I originally played this game for the GBA and I remember as a kid I couldn’t put it down. Really one of those hidden gems that I wish more people knew about. The PSP version heightens every aspect of this game, graphics, animations, and even voice acting has been added. Trust me you will love it. Cool mechanics and story. It will remind you of Fire Emblem
much better than the GBA version of this game. It’s a wonderful buy the sprites are beautiflully redrawn and the screen is less crowded than the old one as well as plenty of extras. It’s a stratagy RPG though so it requires some thinking to play, but thus can keep you busy for a long time. Great story and characters too.
Very interesting and long story line for a PSP game. Very addictive and fun to play. Liked the different characters and the gameplay. Would recommend to RPG gamers of all ages (above 8).
I bought this game for my PSP as I had nothing to play on it, and chose it for its cover artwork, to be honest. I can play as a princess? Cool. It doesn’t hurt that it was made by Atlus.Well, the game was not what I expected. For one, it is definitely not your typical RPG, or even what comes to mind when I think “tactics” game (I think Final Fantasy Tactics or Jeanne D’arc). It has a fresh, new battle system and gameflow that is, as the title of this review says, surprisingly addictive. During midterms when I should have been concentrating completely on studying, this little unexpectedly fun game kept me busy, and feeling guilty that I couldn’t put it down. It’s different. It’s fun. Give it a try.
My son enjoyed it!
Wow. What a game. Love the art style, can’t wait to replay this again.
Yggdra Union is one of those games that is both amazing, and incredibly lacking. The story is great, not-so-new but with enough twists and turns that make the game really enjoyable. The game is harder than most – and it’s not even ON hard mode until after you beat it the first time. Chances are that even the most experienced player will need a strategy guide in order to find all the items (in which no clues are given to their location) and the characters. Without knowing, you could easily pass up 3 party members, and murder another. The weapon affinities are a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’re in for intense battles and amazing game play. The game utilizes cards as hidden doors to skills, and most gamers have come to believe that a game with ‘cards’ is akin to games like Yu-Gi-Oh. This is certainly not the case, as each card gives a person a hidden skill to use against their opponent; many of which are the deciding factor in a battle. Cards abilities range from healing to setting enemies on fire, to cursing, and require certain criteria in order to be used. The characters are easily lovable, each with their own personalities and history. No two playable characters are the same in terms of class, though they can use the same weapon but be a different gender. For example, Rosary is a Witch and Roswell is a Necromancer. Both use staves, but Rosary has the fire element and Roswell has darkness.Healing is difficult in Yggdra Union. Character’s have “m.
a purchase for my daughter who was introduced to the system in college, she’s very happy with the system and the games.
If you want a game that will challenge your strategic thinking, look no further than Yggdra Union. This game is very challenging, and it’s up to YOU to use your brain and what resources you have to make it through. This is not a game that holds your hand when the going gets tough, no no… this game teaches you the basics and then leaves the rest to your able mind. The amazing blend of strategy and real-time combat will keep you going for hours on end without boring you out, which is good since you’ll be doing a lot of fighting in this game thanks to the very long missions you will encounter. Most of the time, the missions in the story will include several smaller skirmishes and/or objectives. This is okay since it always makes you think one step ahead since you never know what could happen next, but it also means that you’ll have to start over from the beginning of the mission if you fail on any of the other objectives, as you don’t get to save during missions. It also doesn’t help that you’re sometimes put in a completely unfair situation after completing an objective.Heck, sometimes you’re even outnumbered from the very start. So in other words… this game likes to challenge you, but it also enjoys seeing you squirm. You really have to utilize every single function and gameplay mechanic if you want to beat this game.If the combat has you down, the characters in the game will almost certainly make you smile. This game has a sense of humor and isn’t afraid to use it. Jokes are t.
The art of the game was what originally attracted me. But be warned, the game is not a standard RPG, or even TRPG. The game has very very boring animations during combat, which is basically identical sprites swinging a weapon, signifying your unit count, and old school graphics in non-CG scenes, which doesn’t bother me much, but might others. The combat system is what stands out though, because it is like a combination of more traditional grid-based TRPGs with the union system, which is like a formation to get your units to assist in combat, and it isn’t so much a bonus as a requirement to win encounters.
