Awesome! I feel Like a kid again!
X-Men: Next Dimension is most likely the first game I have played that was based on the X-Men comic that did not disappoint me. Being old enough to remember most of the incarnations that the X-men have had on various consoles and the PC (X-Men: Ravages of Apocalypse for example or X-Men for the original Nintendo system), I had fairly low expectations. Moreover, I’ve never really been drawn to playing fighting games because of the low replay value.X-Men: Next Dimension (X:ND) was a pleasant surprise however. A solid 3D fighting game with equally solid graphics, it is a frequently played addition to my collection of Xbox titles. Let me say up front that this is no Dead or Alive 3 in respects to graphics. It does, however, have strong graphics with excellent effects for the powers. The powers… here is what makes this one stand out from the pack of fighting games available. True to the comic each hero or villain has an array of moves and abilities available to them in stages, not entirely unlike Tao Feng’s chi system. Your available power builds as you fight, enabling progressively more powerful abilities. It should be noted that while activating these powers involves a combo move unique to that character, these moves typically involve intuitive key combinations and not the long strings of button mashing found in many fighting games. The story mode in X:ND is written by experienced X-Men comic writers. It is superior to the “stories” that string together many fighting ga.
Great game
X-Men:The Next demension has many different modes including Story Mode, Arcade Mode, Survival, Versus, and Time Attack. The graphics are great and you can play as many different X-Men Characters and 4 secret ones. This is the best fighting game I’ve ever played! This game is much better than X2 Wolverine’s Revenge.
This is a good game if you’re into the X-men and not a big fight-game fan like myself. It’s got good graphics, a lot of different characters -I liked playing with Havoc and Mystique- and some cool locations and levels. You can play Story Mode, 1 on 1 and one more if I remember. The critics are being too hard on this one, it’s not D.O.A., but it’s good to add to your X-Men library FOR CHEAP!!
I played this game and I thought it was DA BOMB!! I am a big fan of X-men from reading the comics and when i played this and saw many familiar characters. If you like these kinds of fighting games with immersive story styles you will love this game. All the moves are easy to master and SOME of the locked characters are easy to unlock. I played the Xmen mutant academy for the playstation and thought it was much similiar to this. I highly recommend this game for allX-Men fans.
Wow ! Hard to believe how different all of our opinions are on this game. I wanted a good fighting game. I bought this game and Mortal Kombat. I have been a big fan of Mortal Kombat since it first came out, what 10 years ago ? Anyway, the graphics of the X-men game are much better than Mortal Kombat and the controls are much more intuitive. You do not have to be an expert at video games to beat the story here or to unlock characters. Pay attention though, when you are battling certain Sentinels you only have 50 seconds to defeat them no matter how much more health you may have than them. Finally, the story is pretty cool for anyone who likes the X-men comic book. I stopped reading the series 10 years ago, but I enjoyed the game and found it fit in with memories I had of the comic. The only warnong I would say is that this is a pure fighting game. If you are looking for puzzles or strategy, you will not like this game.
I understand a lot of people didn’t like this game, but I did. When it first came out I bought it and loved it. Me and my friends played it all the time. We couldn’t get enough of it. Now three years later after trading in my GC version I’ve bought it again for the Xbox. I must admit it still looks pretty good and the controls are far better than the GC version. I also like the addition of Pyro. Now I must state the obvious set backs of this game; for one the fighting is fun but not nearly as in depth as games like DOA or Soul Calibur. Two the graphics are a bit dated. Three the game isn’t much fun by yourself after extended play. And finally there are some small glitchs. In conclusion this is a decent fighter and awsome X-men game. Ah this game brings back so many memories…
