This was one of my favourite games in the period that it came out.The story mode is very solid, and is a retelling of MK 1-3.The tower mode I found really compelling, with lots of different challenges for you to complete. Some of them stumped me for ages, but I pressed on – normally I would get bored of things like this. The VS mode, if you have a buddy or group of friends is where you’ll spend the most time.Online mode I didn’t enjoy, I tended to get booted a lot. I suspect because I had not been there from the start and had no online matches compared to the people that had stats of 300+ matches.Overall, a very solid game!
This game is surprisingly fun – likely the best MK since MK2.Almost all of the characters are fun to use. Sheeva is the only one that comes to mind as really lame. Single player is much more enjoyable than past MKs. Sound effects are awesome, and graphics get the job done. I can’t think of any significant bugs off the top of my head. I play single player, so I can’t really comment on character balance, which leads to my next point.I think you really need local (real life) buddies of similar skill level to get the most out of it. I haven’t really tried online play because I expect lag to make execution difficult. I have the arcade collection as well and I think the lag makes that game unplayable online. Hopefully this game is better optimized. Another reason I don’t play online is I fully expect to get my ass kicked constantly. Online games are for the young – I do not have the practice time to stay competitive.
I chose a five star rating because I am a huge Mortal Kombat fan. I have been one since Mortal Kombat was first introduced in arcades! I now own this version and the Standard Edition, but this game, by far, is one of THE best MK games to date! The only differences between the Komplete Edition and Standard Edition is that the Komplete Edition has everything unlocked and it comes with the four DLC fighters. You get Kenshi, Rain, Skarlet and Freddy Krueger. And in addition, there are quite a few fighters that will have their "Classic" costumes depending on whether or not that fighter was in the classic games. All of the fighters have their alternate costumes unlocked, including Mileena’s Flesh Pits outfit without having to face the 300th Challenge Tower task. All of their fatalities, second fatalities, and third fatalities (depending on whether or not you have a fighter with a classic costume), stage fatalities and babalities have been unlocked and are available in the Moves List. Pretty much, everything is unlocked and available as soon as you put this game in your game console. While the Komplete Edition has a lot going for it, I’d still prefer the Standard because of the simple fact that, in the Standard Edition, you had to work to unlock the characters’ alternate costumes and endings, not to mention earning money to buy neat things in the Krypt. However, the Komplete Edition was the only way I could get Kenshi (one of my many faves). Overall, I like this edition of the.
After the many recent iterations of MK from the last gen, PS2/XBox, I got MK’d out. When I heard about this game, and saw that it had an active story for all the fighting, it perked my interest. I finally bit the bullet and purchased this December and I think it was a great purchase. The story is great. Takes us through the history of MK and the fighting is spot on. I would recommend this to fighting and especially MK fans. Great game.
I received the game today finally. Item said it shipped Fed Ex, When I tracked the package it said that it was attempted to be delivered yesterday and a note was left. There was no note left and we were home all day! I had to call Fed Ex to find out how to obtain my package they said that it was forwarded to the post office to be delivered and that I would have to pick it up there that they would not attempt to redeliver until I gave the okay. So I then went to the post office to pick up the item and they said they were going to redeliver it today. Well it finally came and the game case was completely smashed luckily the game does not appear to be damaged.
Great game, very easy to play and learn.
Great story mode on this game. New characters are interesting and fun to play. Klassic game plays well. Rich background graphics on all the different levels. I think that they have struck an ideal balance between the klassic feel of the game and the improved technology to run it and offer more options on fighting modes, like tag team, ladder, ect. Like I said rich background detail really sets this game off. A fine addition to the Mortal Kombat franchise.
If you like the classic Mortal Kombat games then this game is up your alley. The story is kinda weird, but the roster and stages are neat. In this version you can get all DLC for the regular version automatically. This includes the 4 DLC characters: Freddy Kruger, Scarlett, Kenshi, and Rain. If you and your friends feel like beating each other into a bloody pulp, this game is for you.
Mortal Kombat will always be one of those fun fighting games, and they really did come back with style. A ton of characters, x-ray attacks, and smooth fighting make this game good. I wish I could say great, but there’s just something that makes that more difficult. The story isn’t all that spectacular, but this isn’t a game series based around a story. Get it for a solid fighter, play with friends online and offline. Have some sadistic, brutal fun.
Owned every single MK game. I love this one.
