I bought a used copy of this several months ago, and it works fine with my NES/SNES "retro" system. I’d never played it before, and I found it to be a good game. As far as I know, this was the first WCW game to come out, at least for a Nintendo system. (Well, technically it’s an NWA game.) In fact, I believe it was the ONLY WCW game to come out for the NES! I’ve played the game mostly in two-player singles matches with my older bro. Each time I played against the computer (in one-player singles [I guess you could call it "tournament"] mode), I got whipped! So, I haven’t seen the "WCW Master," who is the one wrestler (I think) on the game that you can’t play as. Like I’ve said before, I usually find wrestling and fighting games to be much better with multiple players, so I’m not too heartbroken that I’ve never come close to even seeing the WCW Master. The game features 12 wrestlers that you can play as (and who would today be considered "old school" guys), and the game marked the first video game appearances (again, at least for Nintendo) of these wrestlers. Included are "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Sting, Lex Luger, Rick Steiner, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams, Kevin Sullivan, Mike Rotunda, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Michael Hayes, "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert, and the Road Warriors. In fact, for a couple of these guys (Kevin Sullivan and Mike Rotunda), this remains (as far as I know) their only video game.
I’m going to buy this to play on the Retro NES system. This was probably one of my favorite games of all time. Great classic WCW characters including as mentioned The Road Warriors, Ric Flair, Lex Lugar, Sting, Ricky “the dragon” Steamboat, Dr. Death Steve Williams and more. My only complaint in life is that I think they made the final character (a hooded menace dubbed “WCW Master”) unbeatable. I could never get past him, even though I considered myself pretty much excellent on the rest of the game. This game was much more interesting then all of the WWF NES games put together. The only game that came close to this was the TEMCO World Wrestling game. Enjoy.
Great Games Plays like a champ!!!
A game that a friend of mine had when we were kids but I could not find it in any game stores. Sat around and played with it a bit and the the controls, while a bit awkward at first, all came back to me and I enjoyed it as much now as I did then.
