For the one review that says that “there are only 3 courses and 4 characters” you haven’t played it enough yet. There are about 10 or so courses that you get rewarded for winning the tournaments with and to get more characters you have to play single player vs. match….the vs. part is a new computer opponent that you get to keep as a pickable character if you win the round. It’s a really fun game, and yes I will agree the little Wii remote guy that guides you is annoying (but you learn to ignore it real quick).
Fun to play.
good
Fun game to help pass time during quarantine. The case is intact and the disc is not scratched. Not much else to ask for.
For the life of me, I cannot figure out how people can not like this game. I bought it when I was in a toss-up over it and that other popular golf game for the Nintendo Wii. I dont play golf, I have never played golf, but I am pretty sure it wouldnt ever be like anything envisioned in a videogame…even the best one made. The control for the Wii is easy to learn, and something that even my two daughters (5 and 3) can figure out. They may not get the finer points and even know how to sink the ball, but they have a good time playing the game with my wife and I. Pretty cool that its a game and we can all play as a family and everyone gets to have fun.I know that there are purists out there that say its not like playing a “real” game of golf…but like I said, I dont think I had an preconceived notions going into it that I was going to play 18 holes in my living room. Its a fun game that we enjoy as a family. The graphics are crisp and the animations are nice as well. The toons arent as cartoony as one would find in the popular Hot Shots series for PS2, but they arent super real either. Just the right amount of virtual insanity. The Wii control scheme, while seeming like one should hold the wiimote like a golf club, can actually be better realized if one holds it like a baseball bat. (again, not really lookin’ for a real way to play golf) I find that my wife and I usually have a really close game as it is easy to come in under par, but just as easy to overguess it and end u.
Love it
A quick caveat: this is not Wii Sports. You don’t just stand and swing. There is a specific way to play and that may discourage or frustrate players who are expecting a direct motion/swing game mechanic. All that aside, this is a fun game. You start out with only a few characters and a couple courses, but you unlock new ones as you play in tournaments, and you unlock characters by beating them in challenges. The swing mechanic is the thing that sets it apart from Wii Sports’ version of golf. Yes you use motion to control your swing, but NO, the strength of your swing does not determine the strength of the shot. Instead, they have mixed standard control play with a motion based interface. You move your remote back to the desired point on a swing bar. You wait for a shadow remote icon to meet your current position. After that, the forward swing begins and you want to time it so that you are pointing down when the icon is in the “swing zone”. The accuracy of your shot changes depending on how accurate your timing was. You can also hook and slice by twisting the remote, add extra power by flicking the remote a little at the end of your swing, and you can control top and back spin. The above paragraph alone should show you that while this is an arcade style game, there is much that you can control. The control scheme is awkward at first, but once you understand it (you can take unlimited practice swings, and you can also practice any hole in a separate training mode) it is easy to use.
Our grandson is a real golfer. He loves it! He said the courses on this game are awesome! We sent him this for his 12th birthday and he says he really likes it. Nuff said. When they’re 12, they are so hard to buy for, for any occasion. Electronics are the thing today, and they have so much already we wanted to get something he wouldn’t have and he didn’t.
I’m not a real life golfer looking for the most realistic game – just something fairly realistic with a variety of courses to have fun with. This fits the bill
The graphics are great and if you’re into extreme details and don’t mind extra steps, then this game is for you. The audio is heard more towards children with cute anime voices and sound effects. A regular adult may find this annoying. If your looking for a simple enjoyable golf game with out all the frills like WII Sports, this is not it.
