It’s an old game i used to own unique in its own way . i always loved it so when i found it on retrolio i had to get myself a copy .
Its been nearly 10 years now, since i got this game. And to the date this is one of the best RTS games i played on computer. Yeah, by now it wont work with Win2000 or WinXP (well it was released back in days of Win 3.11 – what you expected?), and graphics is not as cool right now. But its still fun to play, its still challenging one’s mind.
One small problem part of the game case was broken the game works so i am happy over all
First, let’s get something straight. This game is ALL about strategy, NOT graphics, not shoot’m up, not AD&D. It is about commanding an army of increasing size on the field of battle, of knowing which units to pit against which types of enemy troops, of taking advantage of the terrain and using surprise. To that end, it is a fantastic game, IMO. You will not finish this game in one night, probably not in one month. The scenarios get increasingly difficult. The biggest thing you need to realize about this game is that it is much, MUCH wiser to play defensively and let the enemy come to you.One major caveat is the complexity of the user interface. It will take quite a while to get used to, and even then it isn’t ideal. You cannot micromanage the entire battlefield, you need to trust that some of the units can do their job, trust in the battle plan you drew up, and support the other units with a few easy to manage but powerful units.Overall, a fantastic strategy game, only the awkward and complex interface keep it from scoring 5 stars.
This is a great RTS! It will make you think about tactics for your units and keep track of money, armor, experience, and more! It is especially good at teaching money and unit management. Not for those in a rush or who don’t want to think.
I DIN’T KNOW WHERE TO START! THIS IS IS LIKE A COMBINATION OF RPG/STRATEGY GAME!! THE SETTINGS/TIMEFRAME & THE CHARACHTER’S CLOTHING/ARMOR REMIND ME OF THE MIDDLE & DARK AGES, WHEN THERE WAS UPHEAVAL & POLITICAL TURMOIL ALL OVER EUROPE! I AM A DIE-HISTORY BUFF, BOTHE ANCIENT, MODERN & MODERN HISTORY. BUT PRIMARILY INTERESTED IN AVIATION HISTORY. THAT OF WWI&WWII. THE STUFF THEY CALL “AIRPLANES” THESE DAYS ARE FLYING COMPUTERS, AND COMPICATE THE PILOTS JOB. PILOTS OF TODAY NEED TO HAVE TECHNOLOGY SKILLS, AND RELY LESS OF PILOTING SKILLS.
I have played through this game more than any other. Only hardcore warhammer/RTSG fans need apply. Hehe the graphics are blurred pixel mash at its best. The key, as others have said, is to master the wacky interface system (remember you can select units on the pause screen). Also remember, tern off the AI on your archer/crossbow units! This game has NO MERCY. You want to survive? you better play dirty:Only fight in close combat if you absolutely have to.Set up gunlines, create kill zones and bait a few enemy units in at a time, lock units down will spells, and level up that amber wizard as FAST as you can so you can use that bird attack spell.Best thing is that there is a “Restart” option located in the pause menu. Trust me, you will be using that allot because if you lose a unit in battle then its gone for good. What keeps bring me back is the branching story choices and experience point system, you never know how your units will fare so they may be tough or wimps by the end of the game. Also there are several different paths through the game, some of witch are even tougher, and one is the actual No Win Scenario (the three shortcuts to Loren forest).
Great game.
does this game work on the ps3? I really loved this game when i had a ps1..i want to get back into it
One of the most challenging games ever made, especially in strategy genre.
