…that’s my reaction to the Van Helsing game. Many people have criticized it as having a bad camera, not enough acting out of the story (too many cutscenes and such), as well as being repetitive, but they’re all nitpicking. The first time I saw this game I was really looking forward to it. Well, I rented it and after a day or two, I hated it. I’d been playing games like Hitman, which require more strategy and “brain power”, so I thought this was stupid, mindless game. However, I didn’t realize one thing. This is NOT a “shooter”, though most of the weapons are guns. This is an ACTION game, entailing tons of exciting movement, such as jumping and fighting while watching the really cool villains do likewise. In short, you have to be in the right mood to play this, or not expect too much. You may be dissapointed if you think this is another Red Dead Revolver or something. I bought it and had a blast because I knew what kind of game I was playing. The gameplay has been called repetitive, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s really fun to just lay into your opponents’, though some of the weapon’ shooting (dual pistols) can become tiresome, despite its propensity for success. You basically have to use your tojos and/or twin scimitars to liven it up with some variety (I recommend tojos against most non-flying creatures and bosses, as it’s really fun to tear through your adversaries). There are a fair amount of other weapons, such as the crossbow, shotgun, elect.
A+++++
Grandson loved it
A GREAT GAME to Play
Video games based on movie licenses are always a hit or miss. For every good game like “The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King,” and “Spiderman: The Movie,” there is the horrible “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines,” and the mediocre, “Enter the Matrix.” “Van Helsing” falls somewhere in between.The game borrows heavily from “Devil May Cry,” complete with cinematic camera angles and fighting combos and weapons you can purchase after a level. The graphics aren’t especially detailed with low and blurry textures. The XBOX version is sharper, but below standards for a system with that much graphical capability. A treat is using the voice and likeness of Hugh Jackman as well as the other actors from the movie. Gameplay is steady enough with one button used for projectile weapons such as Helsing’s twin guns and another for close combat which when timed right, unleashes a series of combos on an enemy. The L trigger is used to target the enemy you’re fighting. However, the targeting system tends to focus on enemies farther away rather than the ones that are closer which can be frustrating since you need to toggle over and over.My biggest gripe are the camera angles. Since it’s fixed, judging where you’re going can be very frustrating. For instance, you may be walking towards one part of a room when all of a sudden, the camera angle will shift to a new perspective. When this happened, I had to backtrack a few times just to make sure I was going in the right direction. For.
This game is ok. The graphics are ok. I got this game for my son and he didn’t really care for it. He is 7 years old and it didn’t meet his needs or wants. I lent the game to a friend and he said that it is a little hard for my son’s age. It says Teen on the cover, but I thought my son would like it. He didn’t. I’ll have to play it myself and see what I think.
I like vampire games and although I have not seen a vampire as yet I like this game it is based on the movie so you will see some familiar scenes. So far I am at the part where I am battle skeletons. The only thing I find a little frustrating is that you can’t do the 360 turn to look around, other wise in that I like it and enjoying it.
Great game works just fine. Reminds me of Devil may cry
good condition disk i though of this been an adventure game but it has too many bosses and is only shooting
BASED ON THE MOVIE_ GREAT FOR EXPERIENCED GAMERS
