Simply an amazing game. Halo Wars 2 improves significantly on every aspect when compared with the original Halo Wars. The campaign, skirmish, blitz, and multiplayer are all blasts to play. Also, if you were upset with how 343 handled Halo 5’s story (as a was) you’ll be pleased to know that Halo Wars 2’s story is much more cohesive and well-written. This really is the perfect step in the right direction for 343, and I’m excited and less cautious for the future of Halo. Some of the reviews here might just be trolls, but I have heard from a minority of the fanbase that the game lags and even disconnects sometimes. However, it’s only happened to me once in 12+ hours of playing, and even then a future patch will probably fix this, so it’s nothing significant to worry about.
Pretty great game! I wish it kept some features as the first halo wars, such as controlling a covenant leader, showing who came in 1st place, and some of the button features the first game had that this one does not. Overall great game. I enjoy it.
I have to say that this makes a lot of improvements over the first one and that in turns makes this game easily superior to the first one. However, if you’re used to the button layout in the first on you will have to re-learn how to do things with this game. It was a necessary sacrifice for the improvements in controls but still annoying if you play the first Halo Wars and move straight into the second like I did since it came with the Halo Wars Definitive Edition. Still, this is likely the best you can possibly ever get on a console without having a proper keyboard and mouse set up like on a PC. Of course, if you buy the digital version, you can play on both Xbox One or PC and you can choose which you prefer But I think that PC’s will always, unfortunately, hold game play advantages in certain types of games. That includes Strategy games like this one. From a story stand point it’s pretty good and if you read the books too, I’d recommend reading Halo: Hunters in the Dark before playing Halo Wars 2. Ultimately, If you like Strategy games and you like halo, then there is no reason to not buy this one. And if your into the over arching story of the Halo Universe, you shouldn’t be asking whether you should buy it but rather, when.

The game is fantastic and fun and gives lots of great nights for the crew when you want to focus on something that gets really intense as you play. The music, the graphics, the story, the amount of work you can put in to strategize war tactics. You’re in control here. And every decision you make matters. You’ve got an extremely smart AI working simultaneously as you work. Legendary might seem a bit too much but over all a game definitely worth checking out for those into Real Time Strategy! Makes hours seem like minutes in this interactive world. Some glitchiness regarding multiplayer joining, but hopefully they’re in the works for sending out a fix.
Fun game if you have a few hours to kill
Fantastic and a worthy successor to Halo Wars on the 360. Plus the addition of the Definitive Edition of Halo wars through backwards compatibility? It is just beyond great! If you like RTS games and likes Halo Wars on the 360, step up and hold on tight. The best console RTS finally has a second edition and you would do well to buy and enjoy it! Play the tutorials first as they will show you all that is new and it will prove very helpful, even if you are a battle scarred gamer like myself and it is totally worth the training. Will probably pick up a second copy for my daughters so we can battle eachother, it is that good!
Everything came that was supposed to. The halo wars 1 Is digital as well as the season pass so you need online to access both of them. Halo wars 2 game itself is on a disc so you don’t need online to play it! :D
