Despite low expectations of this character mash-up RPG, I’m giddy to be able to summarize it in one word– “Fun”. This is a rarity these days, no matter what you play.Like a number of NIS titles or mash-up crossover-type games, expect nothing to make any sense. On paper, the story sounds serious (and it does need a serious resolution), but the presentation and direction taken with the characters is entirely absurd …in a good way. All the better, there are 2 entirely different storylines and you get your pick of protagonists. This is similar to Mana Khemia 2, where despite the different paths, you get goofy cast members either way and eventually everyone will end up working together at the finish. A second play was more enjoyable for me, as I could see all the times I’d bumped into or battled the other party, and could see a few sneaky points where the plots were weaved together.As is finally the expected for JRPGs, everything is offered in eye-popping and excitable (if not a little stiff) 3D models. Instead of an “open world” format, Trinity Universe is the “hub” type of RPG where you’ll be sent out to various dungeons and always come home to the same place. The story actually ties into this and offers a nice sense of progression despite never actually going anywhere.I cannot speak highly enough about the cast of characters, and feeding on their energy alone is more than enough to slide through the game. All are simply absurd and quirky in his/her own way and are incredibly.

What do you get when you combine Disgea characters with Atelier characters, throw in some other characters and smash it together into one big turn based RPG? Well, most people would say you would either get a total broken mess or the greatest team up RPG ever made. The problem is most people only see the world in black and white, good or bad, hot and cold, and so on. Watch any YouTube video on the subject of video games and those are the only two reactions those people know. You either get an angry rant or a glowing review, with very little in the middle. The best way to describe this game is by saying Trinity Universe throws Nipponichi, Gust, and Idea Factory in a bucket and the results are mixed… in the bucket. Trinity Universe is not the best game in the world, but it’s certainly not a broken mess either. It’s a good RPG but flawed in it’s execution and controls. The idea and story are good enough to build from, but the dungeon crawling, turn based menu selections, and battles get confusing and tedious. You will find yourself farming for xp from time to time, but it is not a Final Fantasy type xp grinder since you have dungeon time limits and the levelling system is much more balanced to the enemies than in most RPG’s. It does get a little boring (and irritating) on occasion, but it has enough draw to keep you going through the less than spectacular bits. I wasnt sure about this game or didnt know much about it when i picked it up. ive played it probily about 15 hours and i am having a blast. its a great jrpg and i havnt really played that many so i cant compare it to alot of other ones. the combat is really nice and flows greatly. you can also search any dungion that drifts into your universe. the dungion aso changes threwout he day so if you search it at night and then you search it at noon there will be new stuff in the dongion. this game is a great game and if your looking for a fun jrpg this will not let you down.
