I loved this game since I was a child. Was very excited when I received it and saw the excellent condition it was in.
"A bad man fell from the sky…….AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"the words of a genius. This genius being whoever created this game.Skullmonkeys is easily one of the best games I’ve ever played. Classic jump on your opponent action, with really good claymation effects.Extremely funny, extremely well done.If you buy one game for the rest of your life, buy skullmonkeys. If you buy two games. DON’T BUY TWO GAMES, YOU’LL BE TOO BUSY PLAYING SKULLMONKEYS.Happy GamingJoey
My favorite game since I was a smaller version of myself was Skullmonkeys. I missed it so much, I had to buy it. But, oh no, $$$ on retrolio? Well, I got it from a zshop anyway (very grateful) and I was very happy to see all the madness again. The music keeps our minds from laughing at the 2d side scroller game play, the claymation movies leave us begging for more, and the 70’s come back to life in this once in lifetime (well, ok, there was the neverhood I guess, but I havn’t played that yet) opportunity to get a little weird.
A fun, bizarre side-scroller. I REALLY wish it had a save feature & I REALLY wish the original game, The Neverhood, was available for a system that I have, but as simple a game as this is, it never seems to get old. Fight your way through armies of Skull-headed chimpanzees with an ever expanding arsenal of weapons & technology to knock you out of the game. Claims to have at least 90 levels, but I haven’t got far enough to really say for sure.
This is a quirky, fun, older game for the PlayStation and a bit difficult to find. I purchased this used–the pricing and service was awesome and arrived in very good condition as promised. My son loves it and could not be happier–which makes me very happy too! Thank you!
The case and game look great, as if i just pulled the plastic off. Thanks guys! One of the funniest games ever!
This game is AWESOME. It has great design and music. The Claymation really works well with the computer animation. Some of the highlights are:Universal enimeas (kills everything on screen)Slappy the Hampster (not approved by the humane society)Farting your clones1970s Level, compleate with shag carpets and disco ballSkull Monkey Brand Hot Dog FactoryJoe Head JoeClaymation mini-moviesThe silly things Clayman does when he thinks you aren’t watchingSound effects are great. I’d buy the cd of just the music, if i could!Over all, I suggest if you liked 2D adventure games, you will love this game. It will keep you entertained for months, and well, years, if you are like the guys I know.
I love The Neverhood, and when I heard there was a sequel, I got right online and ordered myself a copy. What I received was probably one of the strangest platformers I’ve ever played. Skullmonkeys retains the clay graphical style of The Neverhood, as well as a lot of the same sort of humor. Also featured is a fantastic soundtrack done by Terry S. Taylor, the same musician behind The Neverhood’s soundtrack. The Skullmonkeys, Neverhood, and Boombots soundtracks are all available on a two-CD set called “Imaginarium: Songs from the Neverhood”, if you’re crazy and want to play these tunes in your car.Skullmonkeys features 25 distinct levels of varying sizes, as well as several minigames and full-motion claymation cutscenes between levels. In a way, the game is a little bit too long, and it definitely feels slightly generic. If you’re familiar with the 2D platformer genre, there’s not much to see here aside from the game’s artistic qualities. I feel that Skullmonkeys holds its own much better as a work of art than it does a unique video game. However, it’s still an ambitiously bold attempt to combine art and what may be one of the oldest and best-known video game genres out there.Control-wise, the game feels a little slippery at times. It’s not unplayable by any means, but things can get hairy in the final level when you’re trying to leap off of some of the disappearing platforms. Unnecessary deaths aren’t uncommon in this game, so if you don’t think you can deal with that sort of.
There are just some games that are so far out there that they will always be remembered. This is one of them. The Graphics are fantastic. Who doesn’t like Claymation?!?! The gameplay is simple, the music is quirky and fun. The storyline very original. The gags are funny!! Even the cut scenes and movie shorts are hilarious!!!! I would knock the game down one star for not being able to save your place on the memory card, but, no this game is so unique and different that all is forgiven.I highly recommend this game to anyone seeking a fun, good, clean game. My son is just now getting into it, since when he was younger he used to be afraid of the monkeys!!!
This game is awesome. I remember when i was 4 when i bought this game at hollywood video, I knew i was in for a treat. I got it and I loved the game. I bought it on retrolio due to my copy being horribly abused. If you need only 1 game, get skullmonkeys
