This romance novel is very basic and a bit predictable, but I still enjoyed it all the same. It doesn’t go into much depth, but if you’re after a fun, easy to read romance about supernatural creatures, this is the book for you.Mercy is a scientist working for a terrible organisation experimenting on Supernaturals, who knows what they are doing is wrong, and goes out of her way to help save those being experimented on. One of Duke’s closest friends is being held hostage by Mercy’s organisation, and he and his fellow brothers in arms set off to save their friend. While the ending especially is s but rushed, you’ll love the passion and comedy this brings.
This was a decent book. I found the heroine hard to be believable. For someone who’s supposed to be a genius, she sure didn’t show a lot of brain power, and I never was sure what her field was supposed to be – electronics? hacking? biomedicine?Duke was awesome. From the very beginning scene we are shown his quirks when it comes to technology. I liked that he was finally paired with a woman who is his exact opposite. I do wish we could have seem them clashing more in this aspect.I haven’t read any of the other books, so I did feel lost at times. My overall rating is a 3.5 stars; however, I raised that to a 4 because I do think those who have read the previous series would get a lot more out of this.
I read so much and find things are the same in every book I read I get bored easily. While this book was an easy ready I read it in two hours, the story line was great, I liked that it didn’t repeat itself over and over like you couldn’t remember what you read 3 pages back.It does go on like some other para normals I have read this one pulled me in and I laughed quite a bit, I was sorry it ended when things started getting rolling.I hope this Author does not end her books so quickly in the future.I can’t really find anything to complain about except that it was to fast and it ended to fast. The book should have been just a bit longer to show the couple that mated and found their way more, talking about what happened and her new job and then some kind of ending. She didn’t even know she was a pixie and really what mating was and boom mated and pregnant story ends. That is all I can say. I read a book a day so this one was fun.
PSI Operative Duke Marlow has a new mission all because he answered the phone. Now he must track down and contain the threat – Mercy Deluca. Mercy is an absentminded biomedical engineer, with a few quirks, that works for the Corporation. She believed she was there to find the cure for diseases. Oh but she found much more. Wanting to free the captives held in the lab, she reaches out to a group for help, based on information received from one of the captives, Test Subject 87P . Unfortunately, she failed to include the code with her information and the PSI team shows up on her doorstep ready to take action.Low and behold, when Duke goes in waving a gun, ditzy Mercy wanted to know if he was there to fix her sink. Unfortunately, when intel was passed out, they failed to mention Mercy is his mate and we all know how these immortal werewolves are when it comes to protecting their mates. When the shooting starts, Mercy can only stand there thinking “Ohmygod, it’s him! Perfect-Male-DNA is standing in my living room with a gun." Join the Team as they help free the test subjects and bring home one of their own. This is a great short read for those that like the paranormal genre. Ms. Roth’s characters all have such passion and work together to form the story. Act of Mercy is filled with laughs, action and hot men. I look forward to more in this series.I received an ARC from author for an honest review.
I loved this book. You start the story with Duke, a werewofk, who is a PSI-Op, and is typing up a report for a mission he just went out on. He hates just about everything, especially technology. While he is typing he receive a call from a woman, he doesn’t know it yet but it is his mate Mercy, calling to verify that they received her information. He thinks it is a prank, acts like a jerk, and hangs up.Mercy is a doctor, a tech- guru, and works for the Corporation. She doesn’t know what she is but knows that there is a genetic abnormality with her DNA (we later find out she is part pixie). When she got hired on she did not realize how evil they were and is doing everything possible to bring them down. She will not leave until she can save James Hagan, who use to be a PSI-Op with Duke.I love the way they interact. Duke can’t help but be himself, a crabby jerk, and Mercy is very brilliant but absent minded because of all the thoughts going through her mind. You meet the PSI- Ops in this book and there is a lot of back and forth, it is hilarious. Also, the interaction between Duke and Mercy is steamy and funny. One of my favorite parts of the story is when Duke "threatens" to show Mercy his penis if she keeps staring and she tells him to go ahead and show her, not phased one bit. If you love this book and haven’t read the Immortal Ops stories, I would recommend reading those as well. You do not have to read them to enjoy the book but they are just as amazing.
When Mandy M Roth rolls out an Immortal Ops World spin off, the woman deserves a standing ovation for pulling it off and giving me a whole new team to love!!!Act of Mercy is our first taste of the other teams that were hidden from our Original Immortal Ops team who knew nothing of them, only to discover the lies with in lies of the government. Oh what a team…Duke -wolf our adverse to change man, Striker our facebook loving kilt wearing wolf, Boomer- panther (the current winner of the "bad word here" of the week award), and Corbin British lion shifter and leader. All starting with a call leaving Duke jokingly saying to his self after being well him, "your luck, it was your mate, calling you out of the blue, dumb….".That leads us to Mercy and Oh what a woman! I loved Mercy. She was the perfect absent minded, lovable, dudley do right woman. Yeah it was her on the phone calling Duke, trying to save a captured Immortal Ops operative who was imprisoned by the corporation and being tortured and experimented on.This book was non stop action and full of information and kept me turning the pages. Mandy again writes a book that I wish was longer. Thanks for another great escape Mandy M Roth!
What a great book!! It had great characters (shifters, Fae, pixies), dialogue, and story line. Who can resist a brilliant, sweet, slightly ditzy heroine (Mercy) who finds her gruff, grumpy, handsome werewolf mate (Duke) while trying to rescue an imprisoned shifter (James) and wildlife (wolf, panther, etc.,) from evil scientists. With the help of Duke and his PSI partners (Corbin, Striker, and Boomer), Mercy participates in the rescue where they all engage in humorous interactions, she copes with finding her mate, and realizes she is not fully human. This was a fast-paced, exciting story with a few ”steamy” scenes. Can’t wait to read more about this group of people. Highly recommend!
But for the little bit of swearing and word errors, I would have given this great story 5 stars. There is some sex, but given it’s a mates story… I literally laughed out loud while reading this on a tour bus! This is a funny yet suspenseful romance novel that I have fallen for. I can’t wait to read more of this series. I would truly like to give this novel 4.5 stars. It does not have a cliffhanger.
I really enjoyed this fast paced, quick read, spin off to the Immortal Ops series, that had me laughing out loud often.Loved the main character Duke, and Mercy was a wonderful, brave genius pixie who had me in stitches.Looking forward to reading more of this spin off series and the characters in this team.
What doesn’t Duke like? I really enjoyed reading this book. It kept me interested and it was funny and action packed. Mercy was quirky to say the least, but smart and sassy. Duke…a bit grumpy, but knew what he wanted and was willing to fight for it and give it his all. The entire Immortal OPS Team was funny and manly. Kudos yo the author!!ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
