I keep looking for the best car racing game for the X-BOX. My two favorite games so far were designed for the Sega Dreamcast, "Ferrari 355 Challenge" and "Test Drive, Le Mans 24 Hours". "Total Immersion Racing" was the game I thought would take video racing to the next level. After all, it’s been a few years, and the X-BOX should have more computing power than my dreamcast had. But I am disapointed with the feel of the cars. The road seems detached from my steering wheel. I can’t hear the tires starting to slip. Also, I can’t feel the surface of the road unless I hit a curb or something. On my old Dreamcast "Le Mans" game, when another race car runs into the car I’m driving, the jolt is noticable, and can be unerving. "Total Immersion Racing" is still worth getting, (I’m on the level now where I’m driving the superfast Audi R8 prototype) if only because it gets a little boring driving the old games all the time. I haven’t gotten to the "Legend" level yet. Maybe it will get a little more realistic then. Until then, I’m keeping the Champagne corked until the next great racing game comes along.
Total Immersion Racing is An Original Xbox Classic in car racing being one of Xbox’s first ever car race games (and one of My very first Xbox games of all). Innovative, realistic and graphic; TIR stands the test of time and can rank with the best of car racing gaming of today. An Xbox Classic for car racing gamers and for All for all time to come. Keep rocking and racing! Endorsed by Spirit Of ELVIS Ć°ÅøĀŽĆÆĀøĀĆ°ÅøŽĀ®Ć°Åøāā ‘E’
the game is fun to play, but what really makes this game bad is that you can not save the races that you are playing. meaning, if you are racing on a particular course, and you have to leave and you can not finish that particular race, then you can not save it and come back to it and you have start all over. this sucks. especially when the last race before the final mission is a 50-lap endurance race. if you could save your races and come back to them, then this game would be a five for me. graphics and content are good nonetheless and it is worth the money.
I have held an SCCA National Competitor license. I have raced numerous sport and formula cars. I have fueled Indycars, including the 1999 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year. And this is the best racing game I have ever played. It’s the best recreation I have ever seen of car dynamics–if you are going into a corner and you come out of the power, the car is going to "walk" without being hooked up at the rear wheels. Tap the brakes in a ‘light’ corner and the front wheels load and turn. Very realistic. I have never played a game that so faithfully recreates the experience of driving a "real" race car.And this isnt just a "plug it in and go through all the levels" game…you must improve your skills, and each level IS more difficult–not just a faster car. Each level is a quantum jump in ability, and includes tougher car dynamics and better competition. I waltzed through the GT3 category, and thought, "Well, on to the next level…", only to spend a LOT of time learning the GTS cars. If you are looking to accurately recreate the racing experience, this is the closest I have seen. The only down side I have found is that contact doesnt produce damage…you can go through every gravel pit on the track, bang into competitors and fences, and the car is just as it started the race. I’m not crazy about that–I think you should be penalized for contact. But that is really the only thing I have seen so far that is disappointing.I know it sounds.
once you get up to speed it is very real. It will get the blood pressure up and give you white knuckels.
