This is the premier tennis Sim for the Xbox360, and for the Xbox before that. Topspin 4 for is a great improvement over TopSpin 3, removing risk shots and making gameplay a little more realistic while at the same time more approachable for first time users than TopSpin 3.I find the online play (which is the main reason to get the game) a little clunky (as in it doesn’t always connect correctly) and fragmented (meaning there could be a lot of people online playing but not enough in your current desired game area).Bottom line:Pros: This is the best tennis game out there and is a really good improvement over the previous version.Cons: Online game experience could be tighter, but is adequate.
This is a great game the better you get the tougher the competition gets , very deep and very realistic , if you are a tennis fan u will love this game ! hell , even if your not u will love this game !
The greatest tennis game out there for xbox360. I have played tennis games since super Nintendo. This tennis game is amazing in all categories. Graphics, game play, players, career mode, build a player, sound. The ONLY negatives is there are not enough male/female tennis stars. And of course, no Wimbledon.Buy, trust me, you will love it!!4.75 stars out of 5–update 10-3-2012–After playing EA’s Grand Slam Tennis 2, Top Spin 4 is still the best!! And I’m a big EA sports guy who owns Madden, NHL, Tiger Woods, etc. 2K games thus far have made the best tennis, basketball and baseball video games to date.
Cheap price !!!
OK frankly, I’m addicted to this game. Just yesterday I played it till my left thumb was raw and aching, lol. Had to force myself to quit. When I bought this game I just wanted something simple and fun. So many of todays games are just really complicated, and I wanted a break from that. This game is very simple, but there is also a lot of depth, and it takes skill and strategy to be really good. One thing that’s jarring however is that when you move up to a higher difficulty level, the game gets a lot harder. There is very little middle ground. What I mean is, when I started, I played the game on normal. But it didn’t take long for normal to be just too easy. But when I moved the game up to hard, it seemed just a little too hard. In other words, it would have been nice to see a more incremental jump in difficulty. There are 6 difficulty levels in all (“expert”, being the hardest). Playing on expert is a lot of fun and very frustrating at the same time. These are my biggest criticisms of the game:-load times are ridiculous, even when the game is installed to my harddrive.-In career mode, if you lose a match, you can’t replay your opponent. You’re out, and have to start a new tournament. I know that they are just trying to make it like real tennis, but this is video game first, and it’ll never be like actually stepping out on the tennis court. Lets say you’re trying to get your first grand slam title, and you’re playing on one of the harder difficulty levels. Just one match can l.
Top Spin 4 is a steady evolution of the the Top Spin series which is arguably the best tennis simulation game ever made.Controls have been simplified somewhat compared to 3 but they feel very intuitive and still offer impressive control over your player. There are a few idiosyncrasies with the AI and some of the decisions it makes. On demand the AI can choose to serve and ace where you are not even given the option to try and return. It is almost like before the shot it hit that an ace has been pre-determined by the computer and your player is frozen with no ability to make a play on the ball at all.Career mode is nice and in depth enough to keep you playing although the point/ranking system does not make sense at times. You will see the computer win a Grand Slam yet somehow their ranking goes down even though no other players should have picked up enough points to over take them.Overall I am satisfied with the game and give it a solid 8.5/10. I have heard great things about the online play but have not tried it yet.
Everything was perfect
This was an impulse buy, but I actually quite enjoyed it. It’s somewhat difficult to learn at first, but once you learn how to play, it turns into a pretty fun game.
I keep playing this, and waiting for a newer version. Would like to see more playing modes like tournaments and mini games.
I am a HUGE fan of tennis and get excited when a new game is announced. In fact I’m extremely excited and grateful the companies have taken note of thisawesome sport and make games for it. Topspin 4 is probably the best one so far in theseries, and it has had it’s bumps in the road, but I’ve found this one to run and playpretty smooth. It still plays more like a simulator vs. Sega’s arcadey feel of Virtua Tennis, but is actually much better than Virtua Tennis this time around. And believe me, it’s difficultfor me to say that (been a long time fan of VT). But hands down, 2K got it right this time, oustingSega at their own game….Enjoy!!
