I have 4 kids & this is the first time I agreed with them to buy a TV based game. This type of interactive games is a combanation of Fun & physical excersize. A lot of games are attractive but, add tension & do nothing for kids’ health however, in the Kinect system all of this has disappeared & building your health along with fun. It motivates everyone & fits all family members & have more connection & communication between them.It offers all kinds of sports as you like…. single or multible players to ply a game at a time.It also runs the old games as well as DVDs!!!! unbeleivably covering all of your needs. It is really amazing with full meaning.
This game set was everything and more than I expected. For a reasonable price it included the Kinect equipment and all power cords. It has both a remote and a wired Controller. As a used console and parts, I had my doubts about if it would even work. With very little effort I set it up and have been very happy with it. This particular order did not include original packaging or any set up instructions but they were easily available online. They are very intuitive anyway. My order came with one game – but the vendor included a second one free when I contacted him prior to purchase about concerns with buying a used set. Vendor response and delivery time was excellent. THANK YOU! My grandsons, 4 and 8, love to play the other used games I purchased through a local game store. They, of course, are also used but most are very inexpensive. One thing to note – with the used console and used games – initial set up requires a system update or two. Each new game also usually requires a system update first time played, which is easily accomplished as the console is on the internet. Each game update, after the initial system one (which took a total of maybe 90 minutes) takes just a minute or two. Very happy with the product which I shopped for specifically because the Kinect games uses playerĆ¢ā¬ā¢s body movements to play the games! Other Xbox 360 games also work with use of the controllers. I have since purchased a charger for the remote Controller and now have about 10 games.
I am going to cover two things in this review: 1) Xbox 360 and 2) Kinect.1) The Xbox 360 is the best of all the current generation gaming systems. What makes it so good it the combination of great games and a fantastic online experience. There are so many awesome games for the Xbox 360 and they run the gambit of target audiances (I have played with kids who are 5 and adults who are in their 60’s). There are action games, party games, shooters, sports, RPG, board games, card games, classics and a ton more. Xbox live (the online gaming environment) is the best online gaming experience anywhere. This is really what make the Xbox 360 stand out from the PS3 and the Wii. It is not just about starting up a game and playing against random people online. There is so much to do, watch movies, listen to music, watch sports, download games, dress your avatar (my sister loves this). There is also so much more you can do with your Xbox 360.2) The Kinect video contoller is unbelievable. I am not exagerating here. There is nothing like it. I own a Wii and have played it extensivly. The Kinect is two steps beyond when it comes to motion gaming. You really are the controller here. When you move, so does your character on screen. You can actually interact with the game. I have played three games on this, Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports and Dance Central. All have been awesome. Dance Central is the best for overall control and accuracy. Kinect Adventures is just a great party.
The other reviewers have covered the more technical area of this product, so I won’t go into that. The only reason I got an Xbox at all was because, I wanted Dance Central 2 for working out. I have to say this Kinect has been really fun and amazing.I had no problem at all setting it up. The only problem I have is using Xbox Live. If you live in a rural area and you have a satellite DSL internet connection (such as Hughesnet) you probably won’t want to use the Xbox live as it takes FOREVER to connect and/or download anything. I don’t have that problem as much with my Wii WiFi, so I don’t know what the problem is.If you are contemplating a Xbox or Wii for working out, I’d suggest the Xbox 360 with Kinect. I have the Wii (which I also love) and this system with the Kinect. I prefer the Kinect for workout games as your hands are free and you just overall have much more freedom. The only thing I can see being a problem is that most of the other games at this time for the Xbox Kinect are pretty much one note and games I personally wouldn’t be into. I really can’t see myself anyway playing any other game on this besides workout type games. Though, the longer the Kinect is around I’m sure that will change. If you are not interested in working out and are a more traditional gamer, I’d stick with Wii. My Wii is still my family’s go to for other types of more traditional gaming, though some of the Wii Resort games can be a small workout(boxing).Overall, if you are a gamer, you will be gla.
I bought this for my husband as an anniversary present, and of course he was stoked to be able to play all the cool games with it. (Hello, Madden?) I also bought a bunch of games the kids would like, like Disneyland Kinect, and let em tell you, this thing is amazing. The Wii is a distant memory now. I like how it is voice activated for some features, so you call out what you want it to do rather than try to hold your hand still long enough over the hand symbol for the time it takes to "load" that setting. (Yeah… that feature and I don’t get along.) Still, this system is incredible. Of course it will still play any of the older X-Box games, or DVD’s/CD’s, and you can expand with an external hard drive to store game memory without bogging this one down. I even bought one of these for my parents as a gift because they love it so much. You can’t get me to pick up the gaming remote to play a game, but I’m always up for some MJ dancing or Disneyland Kinect.
I bought this for my son and his family who live in Massachusetts, love to be active, yet must be indoors a lot due in the winter to inclement weather. It was a huge hit!I am no techie or gamer so this review is from the report I got from them on it. It came with an adventure game, and I bought two extra games for them (Sports and the Kinectimals for my granddaughter). The great part is you don’t need to wear anything, it follows your movements (and records them for later viewing), and my daughter in law said she and her daughter were sweating buckets after doing the rides on the adventure game. You do need a bit of room to maneuver, to take best advantage, and you need understanding neighbors if you live on an upper floor in a multifamily building! (you’ll be jumping a lot). After hearing how fun it is and how much exercise they got, I am anxious to get one for myself, especially to try the dance game.Unbelievable Microsoft is finally doing decent products for the consumer market!
The very best value for all types of entertainment. My grandkids use it for the games, I use it for dancing either for exercise, or as a fun party thing when friends are over. Then with the Xbox gold membership, I can show all my own pics and videos on it, YouTube, and Netflix streams through it for a very low price. Well worth the initial investment and not having to hold any type of controller in your hand while dancing along with it is priceless.
I was a hardcore wii fan when it was announced way back in e3 so many years ago and I thought to myself, this is the kind of videogame immersion experience im looking for! I bought it the month it came out and got the top reviewed games for it, and continued purchasing games. However, i noticed that the Wii did not provide the total immersion experience that many were looking for but in fact was just a gimmick. Nonetheless, it was a solid console (minus the graphics) for games and my family and I continued to buy games for it.Then, the kinect came out and after going thru my disappointed with my wii, I’m looking at it thinking its just an expensive PS2 eye toy, a major step back from the Wii itself! However, i kept up on kinect news and kept seeing many favorable reviews and crazy developer work and DIY hacking done with it. over the course of the year, hit games were developed for it, it became the fast selling entertainment device in US history, and…..they released FRUIT NINJA for it! All these were signs that maybe the kinect was on to something…maybe it wasnt a gimmick? So i kept reading on deals, and after missing the great black friday deal, i recently saw a deal for $100 retrolio credit when buying the 4gb xbox with kinect for $299, effectively making it $199! not only that, but at the same time retrolio was running a special on buy 2 get 1 free for kinect games! So i thought this is my chance! I made the move (and clicked the mouse) and bam, my familys xbox 360 kin.
First, let me review the XBOX 360 Slim. Prior to purchasing this I had owned 2 of the original XBOX 360s (bought the first, and Microsoft sent me a refurbished one when mine got the red ring of death). The Slim version is MUCH better than the original. The original one sounded like a jet engine when running with all the fans at full speed; the slim one is extremely quiet. The original would get very hot and raise the temperature in the room by a few degrees when running for an extended period of time; the slim runs pretty cool, and does not noticeably heat up the room. The slim version is smaller than the original. The slim version has built in wireless. And a few other minor improvements. Now on to the Kinect. One reason I purchased a Kinect was that I have a pretty sedentary life. I sit in front of a computer most of the day, and I play video games and watch TV at night. I was hoping that the Kinect would motivate me to move around more and get some exercise without breaking up my routine. I haven’t owned it long enough to verify that I will use it over the long term, but in the short term, I believe I will use it often. As for the exercise, after playing it for an hour I was sweaty and tired, and the next morning, my muscles were pretty sore. It certainly requires a lot more movement than sitting in a chair with a controller, and I am pleased that I found doing it to be pretty fun (which is good since I abhor exercise in general).A lot of people are concerned a.
I buy this package with some fear, you know, because microsoft has always disappointed. But now, they have the best sensor in the market.
