Tony Hawk’s Underground
Tony Hawk’s Underground is a skateboarding video game and the fifth entry in the Tony Hawk’s series after Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4. It was develop by Neversoft and publish by Activision in 2003 for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Game Boy Advance. In 2004, it was publish for Microsoft Windows in Australia and New Zealand as a budget release.
Underground is built upon the skateboarding formula of previous Tony Hawk’s games: the player explores levels and completes goals while performing tricks. Also the game features a new focus on customization; the player, instead of selecting a professional skater, creates a custom character. Moreover, underground adds the ability for players to dismount their boards and explore on foot. The plot follows the player character and their friend Eric Sparrow as the two become professionals and grow apart.
Description
In a departure from former games in the series, Underground gives players the chance to take an ambitious non-pro skater from an unknown, to superstar status. But for the first time in the series, players will be able to get off their board and explore the expansive levels on foot, or in a vehicle. Also customize the look of your skater, your skater’s tricks, and even create custom skateparks. However, Tony Hawk’s Underground features nine sprawling courses, as well as a level of freedom and customization that is uncommon in the popular series.
- So explore 9 expansive levels on foot or jump on a motorcycle, BMX bike or go kart.
- Also enjoy fantastic customization by designing and naming your own original tricks through the all new Create a Trick.
- You can even download your own face into the game.
- So go online and share your new tricks & parks with friends. Or get new games, stats and online rankings.
- The advanced gameplay of Tony Hawk games, combine with the freedom & originality of real street skating.

By now such a long series like that of Tony Hawk which (obviously) revolves around skateboarding should have either stopped selling or have ran out of fresh ideas to still be entertaining. But neither has happen, and it’s fifth entry is the best yet.On Tony Hawk 1, we were introduced to a brand new world. While skateboarding games before had either been ridicously over the top or bland, Tony Hawk offered the perfect balance of fun, imagination and reality into one game. Tony Hawk 2 didn’t offer much more except for new level and the ability to manual. However, Tony Hawk 3, the first for the next generation consoles, greatly increased the fun factor with the ability to revert, improved graphics, super fun levels and the best music as of that time. Tony Hawk 4 came out not too long afterwards and gave us the ability to stich onto cars, but the biggest change was the whole new way to play story. Instead of having 3 minutes or whatever to get 9 goals done, you have unlimited time to skate around and talk to people and get goals to do. Now, in THUG, you still have that ability, and everything you had in every other THPS game before this. You can revert, manual, stich, etc. And now you can get off your board. When you first start playing the game and get off the board, you’ll probably think what I did: "big deal". But after a while, it becomes great fun to roll up a vert, go into the air and jump off you board, catching onto a ledge on the way down. You also find it is to.
Product in great condition
And in the beginning there was Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater…Let me first say that I have been playing the THPS series since the first game. And through all the years and games since then, it has always remained at the top of my list through every new release they came out with. Fast forward to the present and we have a new Tony Hawk game. Tony Hawk’s Underground.I picked this game up the day it was released and have been obsessed ever since. Once again, the Tony Hawk series never ceases to amaze me. This time they brought a fresh new idea to the series and I think it is quite welcomed. While the other games are fantastic – it was a good idea to freshen it up a little bit. Although, it’s really not all THAT different. The goals are basically the same type of goals from the previous games. (e.g. collect 5 of this, do a trick here, etc.) except now, there’s a story line behind it, which is better, because it makes doing the tasks a little more interesting. The best part about the THPS series and now with this game, is, the gameplay never changes – and that’s really what makes the Tony Hawk games fun. The gameplay. As always, with new Tony Hawk games, comes new innovations in the trick department. And this game is no different – going as far as to let you create your own trick. Of course, the usual things you expect from a TH game are present, crazy levels, awesome stuff to unlock, crazy new tricks and the ability to create your own skate park. Of course, all the usual suspects are he.
Tony Hawk’s Underground(THUG) is a brand new innovation in a series, that despite having 5 games in a sport that stays relatively similar from year to year, has innovated every time. THUG is no different. Although the same elements exist from THPS 4, there is a new twist(Before you read the rest of this review, know that I am not a gigantic violent video game freak, I am just talking about innovations to the THPS series, and read the entire review so you can understand my point). Without the names of several superstars burdening the main character, he or she can be seen breaking the law. Now believe me, this is in no way a GTA kind of crime spree, it is all in good taste in an attempt to do something that is meaningful to the story, unlike the gratuitus violence in several games today. With this freedom, the THPS crew has the ability to completely innovate the plot making it much deeper with a great story to boot. There are some minor polishing effects that THUG could use however. Once again the music selection is a little under par, but this is not a problem. The difficulty curve for some missions is also steep, but fortunately you can skip the majority of these missions if it is too hard for you and come back to it later when you feel you can tackle it. Finally, some goals can be a chore, but they are few and far between so you will not have to worry about it.Pros:Great Story(Especially for a sports game)Innovative THPS gameFluid movements, as usualMost goals are fu.
