I must admit, I have heard about the Ace Attorney series for years, but never played one until now. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always been intrigued by what I heard, which was mainly a lot of praise. I just beat this game last night, for the first time. Now I understand why this series is so memorable and beloved to gamers from all walks of life. This game is amazing. You play as novice defense attorney Phoenix Wright, a very sharp, innerly sarcastic, young man with a big heart just beginning his career in law. He constantly goes through crisis as he teeters precariously between crushing, career/life-ending defeat and stunning victory (usually more along the former). The story in this game is easily a 10/10 for me. There are five cases in this particular version of the game, four originally, one bonus for this DS version, each self contained with an overall arch that amazingly connects together over the course of the game. It is sheer brilliance in electronic form. The cases are incredibly written, full of fantastic plot-twists and curve balls that will keep you guessing who did it until the very end of the case. The pacing is exceptional too. The feeling of having all the odds stacked against you is palatable almost constantly, and the feeling you get when you, by some miracle, absolutely destroy those odds is exhilarating. A true testament to the developer’s capabilities, to craft such a thing.Along the way, you’re introduced to a truly colorful cast for a kangaroo court, and.
Phoenix Wright games are a blast, and whether you are a fan or not, this is definitely worth your time.
My son really liked getting the game as a Christmas present. It was on his Christmas list. He loves playing the game.
When I began playing “Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney”, I saw exactly what it was people like about it. The cases take interesting turns and sometimes you never really know (sometimes until the moment you make a guess) who the real killer is. Investigating crime scenes and asking witnesses is fun but the best part is going to trial. It’s very difficult at times but at the same time it’s an interesting puzzle. You have to find contradictions in witness testimony by presenting evidence or pressing further into the matter. There’s a lot of reading in this game, more than usual for a video game. I would say that about 70% is reading and the rest is investigation, presenting evidence, and pressing witnesses. Sometimes I felt I was reading a mystery book rather than playing a game. Very fun and entertaining game!!!
My daughter loves her game.
This is truly an unique game, im not sure what genre it fits into, but its definately an original game. Phoenix Wright is not going to win any awards for realism, but who would have thought a court room game would be fun? The basic flow of the game starts with a viewing of the crime without giving too much away, you are then tasked with investigating and questioning witnesses, then its off to trial after you have gathered all the clues you can find. An attorney out investigating a crime scene isn’t very realistic but it makes for a fun part of the game. What makes this DS title so addictive is the well written and often times humorous storyline. Its divided into 5 chapters for this first game, each chapter being a different case. The dialogue is fun to read, with the occasional filler line here and there that i could have done without. Events that happen in Phoenix Wright don’t really go down like they would in real life but the developers clearly weren’t going for realism. In fact, most of the time i couldn’t believe how the story was unfolding, just when you think you know who the culprit is the writers lead you to another person, but that is what is so much fun, it keeps you guessing.Phoenix Wright is a defense attorney, so you will be defending your client by questioning witnesses with the sole purpose of tearing their testimony apart to get to the truth. Watching witnesses slowly break down with each objection is what keeps you playing. Phoenix wright has spawned 3.
The first thing you should know before playing a Phoenix Wright/Ace Attorney game is that these are effectively visual novels. Dialogue, dialogue, and MORE dialogue! There are some exploratory sections where you search for evidence to use later, but the core gameplay (at least in the puzzle-solving sense) involves the trial setting. In fact, the evidence sequences have the illusion of choice–either you don’t know how to progress, or you choose one branch of a dialogue tree that rejoins a preset path. The only points in the game where it’s possible to lose are the trial sections where you must present specific evidence at a specific point to show the contradiction in a witness’s testimony or as proof to back up your claims. While the story is top-notch after you get past all the clicking, what makes me knock off two stars is the tedium of replaying a part I didn’t clear. Judge docked you too many points for arbitrary accusations? Guess what! Even though you saved your progress just before making a mistake, you’ll have to start over from the chapter beginning! Can’t quite figure out how to match what you know is the answer to the evidence/testimony? Gonna be sitting through the opening statements AGAIN until you get it, WRIGHT! (or you could cheat and read a walkthrough, but at that point why not just read the Phoenix Wright manga instead)As a side note, I understand why this is the case for gameplay reasons, but it’s a bit infuriating that the burden of proof is on th.
In this game you play a lawyer trying to prove your client’s innocent while revealing the true murderer. This court thriller is riveting to the point where sleep deprivation seems a grand idea. The characters are enticing even if you know who the murderer is, you still wait for the final verdict. It’s challenging but not so much to deter you from playing on and on and on… Each case is intriguing and you truly wish to keep on playing.
Awesome game! Bought as gift because it’s so fun
This was a game my daughter asked for. She is in love with it and says she’s obsessed.
