First off, let’s face a horrible fact: since about the second Tomb Raider game, the series has just plain sucked. Fortunately, with some key personnel back on board, the folks at Crystal Dynamics and Eidos have put together Tomb Raider Legend, a game that’s much more true to what made the series actually attractive in the first place.Of course, Lara Croft is back as the well-endowed and athletic protagonist, and this time she’s going to delve into a mystery that involves her parents, long lost friends, and plenty of ancient ruins to explore through.Unlike past Tomb Raider games, Legend goes back to its roots with a healthy does of exploration and puzzle-solving. You’ll still use your dual pistols, complete with infinite ammo, to take out plenty of bad guys throughout the game, but the killing of various wildlife is pretty much gone. There will be a leopard or an attack dog to kill every once in a while, but mostly you’re going to be fighting various commandos that also want whatever Lara’s looking for in those ruins.Combat is much more stylish than in the earlier games. Lara can still flip, dive, and roll while shooting, but now she’s got even more acrobatic moves. Charge an enemy and slide at them while shooting, and you’ll pop them up into the air, ragdoll-physics-style, and keep shooting them. Jump at an enemy and then jump again once your feet reach their face, and Lara will do a graceful, slow motion backflip off of the guy’s head while shooting him simultaneously. We’ve.
Let me start off by saying, that I am a huge TR fan. (Since 96 when the first game came out.)And even I was a bit disappointed with the Angel of Darkness. Not a lot, but a bit. When I got to the mall on Wednesday and bought the game, just seeing the front and back was enough to tell me that this was “something”.I brought it home, and beat it the next day.The graphics are EXCELLENT. Picture the Angel of Darkness with out the glitches, and in Tombs and Jungles. (And picture those graphics X 10)The gameplay is outstanding. Traps upon traps, and puzzle upon puzzle haunt Lara’s every move. There are numerous vehicle scenes, and quite a few brand new features added.Lara’s Mansion is a titanic level full of unlockables. Not to mention the fact that you get to explore it.There are only two flaws that I find with this game:The very small array of enemies. (Mainly soldiers and leopards.)And the shortness of the game. It was the shortest Tomb Raider yet. However, the replay value is tremendous. There are over thirty outfits to unlock, about ten secret cheats to unlock, time trials, movies, upgrades for Lara’s pistols, character bios, artwork, etc. This is probably the best game that I have played since The Angel of Darkness came out. And that was a long time ago.If you are a fan of Lara, Tomb Raider, great graphics, or even just adventure, this is a great game to pick up.Graphics: 10/10Sound: 9/10: When Lara communicates with her buddies back at the mansion, it is sometimes hard to either h.
Good
For all of us who have explored thru lara all the hidden places in the world, this game will tease you sweet spots over and over again, but this is only the beginning. Having played all 7 TR’s , i rate this game at a four due to the fact, the puzzles are not as challenging as tomb raider “REVELATION”( which is the best!), there is not underlying dangers at every turn, and the most important thing, its to d— short!Only 8 main story line levels, and where are the sharks, alligator, scorpions, hawks, poison darts and multiple weapon carry capacity. this new lara looks, okay, but not the venoumous girl heroine we all grew to love. If your just starting the treasure searching adventures, this is a good way to begin, but for us TOMB RAIDERS, we still need more Eidos. Stop holding laura back, and give back the 20 some levels for a non-stop extravaganza of gaming and teasers. Overall, i was pleased after that TR 6 Ps2 farce, but dont believe for a minute i will settle for LeGend………. its just the beginning.Buy it, but play TR1, 2, lost artifact, chronicles and REVELATION and experience the bombshell plights of Lara……..
If you are looking for a really awesome Tomb Raider game look no further this game is tons of fun and I think the best one I have seen. I bought three of the Tomb Raider games for the pc a long time ago and never really played them much, and I couldn’t get them to work on my newer pc later, plus they had no windows controller support. Anyways I always wanted to have at least one of Tomb Raider games for one of my console systems but surprisingly never bought one. I decided to buy this game as my first official Tomb Raider Console game, and also decided to get this game used in like new condition for a really great price which was really awesome. Now I love the Prince of Persia games since POP 3D which I think was a very awesome pc game I actually beat. POP:SOT for the PS2 I beat not to long ago that was such a fun game as well. Anyway if you love the POP:SOT games and have never touched a Tomb Raider game you are going to love this game. It’s basically the same game mechanics as the POP:SOT games instead of a guy in more ancient times it’s a woman in modern times that mostly uses guns instead of swords. She even uses a grappling hook and can kick too which is awesome. The stages are just graphically beautiful and fun to explore. It’s funny to hear Lara expressing herself taking in the different breathtaking environments and telling her people how beautiful they are when you are thinking exactly the same thing. Although I think her character and the other characters in the gam.
Lara looks gorgeous, focus on her face for a bit and she blinks, shifts her eyes, and grits her teeth. Fall and you can see her wincing. Her body has never looked better, on the PS2 you can see the creases in her shirt and shorts. Environmental graphics are equally stunning. Gameplay is MUCH better, controls are intuitive and responsive. The interactive cutscenes are fun to watch and a great way to break up the action. Some of the visuals in this game are absolutely awe-inspiring. Tomb raiding is bookended by intense combat sequences. Story is engaging, with a great cliff-hanger ending that leaves you positively salivating. Soundtrack is beautiful as well; I don’t miss the original Tomb Raider theme. And the banter between Lara, Zip, and Alister is at times genuinely funny. In fact, my only complaints with this game are: a. It’s way, way, way too short. I recieved it Saturday afternoon, finished it by Sunday evening, with 13+ hours of sleeping and other random activities in between. b. The tedious motorcycle sequences. There are two. The first isn’t all that bad, but the second continues on for like 15 minutes, an eternity in gaming.
Well let me start by telling you guys that i have never been a sort of TR fan all these years with an exception you can figure out easily.Ya right! The TR Legend. Well i’m a gamer with a mixed taste when it comes to gaming from action-adventure,FPS’s to RPG’s like Final Fantasy. Now as per the review goes, lets get 5-6 yrs back when i played TR3,my first game in the series,i kinda liked it for it’s new ways to interact with the environment with totally new concept and it’s awesome graphics for that time. After that i tried out the TR-Revelation & Chronicles as well.I never played them again as they never were so better if good but again i also came to know what the TR games are all about. But after the release of TR AOD,i was greatly disappointed by the way the whole plot was put together and presented before us for it was quite different from the originals and so i never played it more than 2-3 hrs for all it’s crappy controls & bore factor it had in it.Though it had a lot better graphics,it failed to please the fans. Then comes the latest installment in the TR series, ya thats true the “TR Legend” which i played and completed recently. Now if you ask me i’ll say it’s an awesome game and the best in the series till date the franchise has to offer. It’s a great game with a good replay value (7/10)for it has an awesome in game texture detail throughout with lara’s polygon increased model which looks better than ever and realistic at the same time. Apart from it the in game effect.
I enjoy the puzzles within the game. Graphics are decent and the character Laura is believeable in this game for PS 2. I bought a PS 3 and gave away my PS 2, but I found I really enjoy my old PS 2 games as well. So the wifey bought me a PS 2 for christmas and this game was one of the first on my list to recieve; very satisfied. I prefer this Tomb Raider over all the rest due to cruddy graphics and the controls were not as easily learned as this certain game, game play is more intense as well. Of them all this would be the best of the Tomb Raiders (Legend).
My 10 year old loves playing this game. I think (from what I’ve watched, not played) that they did a god job with the game. Certainly better then the old original ones (that I have played).
I played a previous Tomb Raiders for about 5 minutes only to realize that the game really wasn’t that good. Well, they corrected the problem by pretty much copying the control scheme and puzzle environments of the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, one of the best games in this current console generation. The game is short but sweet. Rarely any frustration, rarely any repeating. Now hardcore gamers would be repulsed by that fact they you never have to repeat the same level over and over again or that you won’t be struggle over and over again. However, for just fun, simple gameplay, it’s pretty good. You play in a few varied levels, an underground cave, in snow, in the jungle, ancient temple. All unique and a sight to behold. The levels have a tremendous amount of checkpoints, so there’s no worries about killing the same people or making the same jump over and over again. The gameplay consists of a mixture of action, adventure, and puzzle. In the puzzles, you’ll have to move a certain rock of climb a certain rock to advance to the next stage. While not difficult, it will sometimes tingle the synaptic nerves now and again. The action is a simple third person shooter, with a few jumps and quite a few enemies. The weapons are standard, the shooting and auto-aim work pretty much like the standard fair. All in all, it’s a standard game done very well. It’s not all perfect though. While this game flows well, there are a few moments where the games don’t work well. Most notabl.
