Finally a game I can play for a long time! I only bought Tokobots a few hours ago and so far, I haven’t been able to put it down. It’s addictive almost. The graphics are well done as well as the gameplay itself. My only complaint is the camera system (you have to move around alot to get the right angle). Otherwise a great game. I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone only because not everyone is into puzzle-platformers.
Accidentally reviewed this one on the ps2 version page as i bought both but for posterity,Fun puzzles, adorable characters, and fun music in the background. Haven’t finished the game yet, so don’t expect to be too enthralled. But its really a matter of preference.
Finally a game for the PSP that isn’t a ps2 console port. Tokobot is a very unique platformer game. Robots follow you around and you issue them commands to enter different formations. I was very skeptical at first but after playing changed my mind. It took me a little bit of time to really get into the game.My biggest complaint is the camera is hard to control sometimes. But pressing L generally fixes the problem. My only other complaint is the lack of any multiplayer support although it’d be hard to imagine a multiplayer tokobot. This is one of the few games that would be appropriate content wise for childeren although some puzzles may be too complex for them.I was talking to a friend of mine about this game and he misheard me and thought that I said toking bots. No, it’s TOKOBOTS I yelled back through the staticy cell phone connection… Ask for it by name.
A great gaming setup that challenges you at every level. It’s a childish tale but so was Mario and Zelda, play this for the style of gaming rather then the tissue thin story.
It’s a pity that my patience for the PSP ran out before Tokobots came out. Having sold the handheld for its lack of interesting games some months ago, I came across this neat little puzzle platformer from my friend, and before long, I was bribing him with food just to borrow his PSP and the game for an “extended period of time”.Tokobots it’s one of the very few games that we see on the PSP that we won’t get to find on the PS2, and this makes the game a little more unique than the bunch of port-overs that litter the PSP’s game library. But being original is not the only strength of the game. It’s the interesting (though under-developed) story, engaging gameplay and variety of challenge in the game that make it one of the most enjoyable titles on the PSP for me for quite a while. The story goes that Bolt, an archeologist, discovers the ruins of an ancient civilisation that is inhabited by Tokobots. These cute little robots grow attached with Bolt, and there begins a journey that sees Bolt and the Tokobots travel around the world while taking on a group of bad guys through the use of “formations”.The idea of formations is not as rigid as it sounds, even though there’re really only three primary ones to start with. “Jointing”, for example, gets the Tokobots to join hands together with Bolt. “U formation”, for example, gets the Tokobots to line-up in a horizontal line on both sides of Bolt. “V formation” lines the Tokobots behind Bolt. While these may sound simple, many actions can.
Tokobot psp is one of the best games that i have played for the system. It is very original because your character has a number of tokobots following him which you can use in multiple ways to manuver through out the levels. Here are my pros and cons of the game:PROS:1. Great camera angles most of the time, and if you press the L button, the camera automatically adjusts so that it is behind your character again! very useful and should be included in all games of this style. also, there is a close up camera mode, a farther back camera mode, and if you hold down the L button, you can look around from your characters perspective.2. puzzles. It is a combination of killing enemies, and solving puzzles, both of which require skills such as problemsolving, timing, and cordination, and creativity. all of the puzzles involve cordination, which in my opinion is the whole point of a video game.3. fun. One part about this game is that the tokobots that you have can turn into a larger robot (combination). These robots are used for solving puzzles and attacking enemies..as you progress through the game, you gain more combination abilities which keeps the pace of the game interesting.CONS:1. The game is somewhat short..its still fun but if it were longer, it would have been one of the best games of all time.2. Some people on other reviews said that the puzzles are too hard, i thought the opposite. The puzzles difficulty was fair, but the tips that you get gives away too much. I person.
Now this is a true great platformer. You begin with 6 tokobots and they help you cross obstacles and defeat enemies.Throughout the game you collect more tokobots and more machine forms which can be used to attack and help, examples are:a samurai robot,a large cane,a bomb tosser,a glider and more. The story is not expectacular but it’s still good. The good part that makes this game good is how the tokobots help you through obstacles.Point is,Tokobot is a great platformer with no flaws, great price and super fast loading times.Great for everybody,so buy it and have fun with it.The problem is that the game solds out fast.
Tokobot is an interesting puzzle game along the lines of lemmings or pikmin. You are followed around by a collection of cube little robots and with their help you must overcome obstacles and slay enemies. The key of the puzzle is to figure out which of your combinations and actions are appropriate to solve a given situation. It might be that a given enemy is best defeated by hitting him from above. In that case, you might form a circle formation with your little tokobots, and then do a jump – stamp to squash him from above. In another case, you might need to climb up a cliff face. You then get your little tokobots to form a straight line, then throw them forward so they create a ladder. If you make your tokobots go out on either side of you like wings, you can then spin them around, creating a tornado style of attack. There really is a lot of potential here, and several of the puzzles are quite challenging. The music is light and friendly, again much like Lemmings music, and the plotline is straightforward and simple. For people innundated with blood and gore games, this is a wonderful, friendly style game with family friendly themes and no swearing. That all being said, the camera angles really make the game frustrating at times. You might know, logically, exactly what is needed to do in order to get past a given enemy. However, because the camera doesn’t line up quite right – and because the tokobots always align themselves to you based on how you are currently facing – it can.
This game is a must-buy for any PSP owner. You control a boy that has the ability to control little robots called Tokobots. By pressing the triangle button you can change the formation the robots are in. By holding the R button everyone holds hands and then you can do special moves like a spin attack, jumping stomp, climbing and hitting enemies in front of you, and much more. You solve challenging puzzles, fight enemies, and boss characters using lots of maneuvers that look cool. The controls are intuitive and responsive and by pressing on the D-pad you will bring up a menu that lets you activate special Tokobot transformations that fuse the Tokobots together. These transformations allow you to become much more powerful to fight enemies or solve puzzles. One is a giant crane arm robot, for instance. Textures and models look clean and sharp. The game looks great. Special effects are top notch. The animation is awesome too. The frame-rate is virtually perfect so everything moves very smoothly. Loading times are barely noticeable, especially when in a level. The game camera works very well. You can center it behind you with the L button and in complicated situations it changes to a scripted camera that shows you the best view. Select button changes the camera distance. Sound and music are great, they sound clear and sharp all the time. Anyone that wants something new to buy for their PSP should not pass this awesome 3D puzzle/platforming game up.
the game was cool yet a little repetitive later on, but the mechanics offer a little bit of a challenge that give it that old fashion ps2 feel. Remade for the psp this game is not so bad for fans of the original or anyone willing to try something new.
