Give this a try its different compared to all the other cookie cutter games out there that re-skin the same game engine over and over.
Like many other reviews say you’ll either love it or hate it, or in my case be somewhere in between. The story and soundtrack are nice and I’m still playing this soley because of the story but the gameplay seems a bit weird. My biggest gameplay problem is dodging enemy attacks in the game. You basically have to wait until after your attack animation has been completed before you can dodge so if you are spamming attack you won’t have much fun fighting. The enemy attack patterns are pretty simple to learn though so the combat is ok.
It took just about 5 hours of play to get used to the game format, I’m glad I hung in there because I’m really enjoying this game, as it has a different take on JRPG! You only take control of the female lead and have no party members save your pet. Some things to note:1. Visuals.Hand drawn cell type animation is really beautiful! I am drawn to the beautiful girls! I wish they had drawn the dragon a bit cooler but he’s more like a pokemon I suppose. At first the charaters seem to move a bit quirky and the sometimes the body movements seem jumpy and unnecessary. Again, as I played it only gave this game it’s own feel and I really didn’t notice all that much after a few hours.2. Voice Acting.English Voice:. Normally I feel like the women voices tend to be painful and but this time around the main character voices are done well. Unfortunately the lead male character’s voice almost made me stop playing. He gets better and more natural as the story progresses, hearing him during the intro was just awkward and was almost enough to stop me from playing! Luckily I kept playing and now I don’t know if I’m just used to it or he did really get better.Japaneses Voice: If you watch Anime, you will recognize pretty much ALL the voice actors right away! This game is packed with high profile voice actors! It’s actually really impressive. Just hearing Hanazawa Kana (HanaKana) as Toki blew me away, and Kitamura Eri as Towa… seriously it’s an A-list seiyu cast. Seriously.3. Game Play! (so far).
I bought this game after watching some reviews on youtube and I can tell you I am amazed at the graphics! Previously, I have played games with an animesque style but 3D gameplay and the results are usually not great. This game, however, shocked me at the gorgeous animation– the gameplay is just like watching an anime!Comparatively, the character movements in conversation are sometimes repetitive (since there is a limited set of movements to choose from) but it is way better than anything else I’ve played. Also, the lip syncing is localized, so if you choose to listen to the Japanese voices the lips will not match. Luckily, this doesn’t matter much because the English voice actors are great.I haven’t played too far into the game, but I will update this review once I’ve had time to analyze the combat mechanics.
Really it should be easy to tell from reading the product description that Time and Eternity is not the next groundbreaking title. I think it should go without saying this game is intended for a specific audience that enjoys anime and manga books and movies. The humor can be campy but it is part and parcel for the medium.Gameplay is simple and easy to master. Role playing game (RPG) veterans will have absolutely no issue picking up this title and running through it. Gamers not fond of RPG titles, or dialogue heavy games, should avoid this title.Graphics are good and the art layer style is unique but definitely not an earth-shattering experience.I like this game, but I would not include it on a list of my favorites.
If you like Anime you got a point here…This game obviously is not a AAA game, so if you expect a game with amazing graphics you will be disappointed. The game have some lows; it is linear, all the collectables are pointed in the map, the story is cliche as characters, but if you are someone that see Anime very often you will know that their stories are cliche…The game is fun if you know what you are buying, and I think if all those reviews on websites have not been so hard on this game many people would see it with different eyes…
A couple of people have done some in depth reviews so I’d just like to toss out my quick perspective. I currently have several hours into this game and I can honestly say I love it! I am a very big fan of anything JRPG with anime in it. This game is beautiful, the hand drawn animation is just wonderful to look at. The combat system is interesting with the use of either a riffle or knife depending on if you are using Toki or Towa. I’m not sure what the exact style of the combat engine is but I personally consider it to be real time. The game is broken up into missions that you go out and complete. When you come back you always end up at the table in Toki’s house with her friends. This part of the game is very much styled like a Japanese PC Doujin game. With the use of a still shot picture where the character might move to a new position. You can talk to each person at the table and that opens up missions you can complete. I’ve seen complaints about every aspect of this game and I am sure most of them are valid, maybe all of them. One thing I will admit that the animation seems a little awkward at times in terms of how the characters move. While the group is at the table Toki tends to change position a lot or sometimes her walking or standing movements just aren’t fluid. Although I noticed these things they just didn’t bother me enough to affect my enjoyment of the game. I personally loved the story as well as the music. Maybe it’s just because this is my kind of game, but I.
Very unusual storyline, but that’s what I really like. I like out-of-the-ordinary games.
Loved this game! Now you can’t play this expecting it to be like the big names on the JRPG scene like the “Tales of” series, but that doesn’t mean this game is not good. The story and battle system is pretty simple but entertaining and the art of the game is pretty good, feels like playing an anime. I also truly enjoyed the music in the game. Overall, I had a good time and lots of fun playing this game!
