This may not be the best game for the novice gamer, judging by the other reviews, but this game is great. The last Tiger I had was 08 and this is a huge improvement. You can not use spin, power, and putt previews on every hole, which initially was very frustrating as I always used them on every shot in the previous versions, but after getting used to it it is much more gratifying to hit a 20 ft putt with no preview .It really sharpens your game and makes the transition from easy to hard very smooth. After about 3 tournaments I was getting first every time. Also the new way to improve you golfer is to GOLF MORE which is much more realistic than betting weird challenges to improve your game. This is the most realistic and fun tiger to date. As I read in another review, this is as close as you can get to real golf while still using a standard controller.

Have played this game over the years through various iterations. Previously, the feel of the game has stayed pretty much the same, even while graphics and options like online play and simultaneous stroke have improved the overall experience. The changes made for the 2011 version, though small, have made a game that makes me approach it much the way I approach golf in the real world. It makes you think through strategy options, instead of just bombing away all the time. The best parts are the new “focus” concept as well as putting improvements. That being said, I’m only one day into playing and for all I know, once I build up a ton of XP and increase all my attributes, it will once again turn into birdies and eagles on all holes. But for now, I’m quite impressed.
No problem good value
I bought ’11 when the EA servers stop supporting online play for ’08 and the changes from then are pretty drastic. I’ve never been a thumbstick player, so I was relieved to find out that the three-click method is still alive. The graphics seemed to have improved and the courses a little harder, but that could just be me used to playing with my previous maxed out character. There is no money involved in ’11 its all based on XP that you earn while playing. You spend your XP on you players attributes and anything from the pro shop. There are still challenges online as well as in the game menus. One thing to note that was new to me is EA requires an online acess code now which comes with the game if you buy NEW otherwise if you buy used you will have to spend an extra $10 at GameStop or EB. The swinging pattern is now in a circle vs a linear fashion in ’08. If you are looking at “2012 the Masters” something to note is that your player and atributes are able to be imported from ’11. Overall I’m pleased with ’11 in contrast to ’08.

This game is absolutely awesome! Bought it for my husband but my daughter enjoys it almost more than he does. A great purchase if you are into golf.
