Great Game! Similar to mass effect, very cool.
Lots of fun, better than I expected! Kind of hard though, so I play on Easy level.
I don’t really get the hate for this game. Nobody really talked about it and it got middling reviews, but I thought it was alot of fun. I’m at the point where I have way, way too many cheap PS3 games lying around and am trying to finish most of them on EASY – this is about perfect on that setting. I’ve heard higher difficulty levels are incredibly punishing, and I just don’t have the time to deal with that – "easy" is not particularly frustrating, and challenging enough in places you don’t feel like you’re cheating yourself. The squad-based mechanics are interesting and might be like Mass Effect (I haven’t played that one yet), but it really sets this apart from Gears of War and other 3rd-person shooters. Sure you can get by most of the game just by using cover, shooting, and throwing grenades, but why would you do that when you and your squad have powers as awesome as this? You can drop airstrikes on aliens, throw sentient blobs on them, launch attacking drones on them, create holographic diversions like Total Recall, set up rocket or laser turrets, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You and your squad are constantly leveling up so there’s the incentive to keep playing "one more mission", and there’s enough branches in the skill tree that you’ll want to recruit more guys (or play again) just to see what all the different powers are.The graphics and sound are great, there’s also a surprisingly fun oldies soundtrack. The story is a little confusing at times.
Whenever I mention this game to someone who’s played it, they perk up, and rave about it. Why was it not more popular? Didn’t you play it more than once? Wasn’t the game play and visuals wonderful? In wish this was an ongoing series of games, I do. For all of the games that drag on, this one actually deserves a few sequels – it’s a refreshing shooter/strategy in a genre that’s criminally neglected. Wonderful game, great the to be had.
Very good
This game is a lot of fun though… Don’t rule it out because of the negative reviews here…If you enjoyed the other two games you’ll enjoy this one as well… It’s a prequel of sorts…A lot of what you know from the other two installments is here also… It’s the 60’s man… Groovy…Think Rod Serling with a gun… "there’s a sign post up ahead"…
Good
