It’s hard to believe, but there is finally another good TMNT game. After the two awful games released last year, I didn’t think it could be done again, but Danger of the Ooze did it. This game is good and Surprisingly, it’s not a beat em up like most TMNT games, but an exploration game in the vain of MetroidVania type games. As the turtles (you can switch between any of the 4 on the fly), you traverse the City, beating up anything in your way, while seeking out various upgrades along the way to make you more devastating and to open new areas.Games like this are usually button mashers, but there’s actual depth to the combat system. Moves have to be timed to be more devastating. Some enemies will get into a defensive position and there’s only one way to takes them out. There are projectiles as well which can be inserting into any combo you’re performing without a hitch. Every additional move just makes you more devastating and becomes an integral part of your move set instead of just being there. Most games done in this style have loads of backtracking, but there isn’t much here. Anytime you come across a new type of door or obstacle, you tend to get the upgrade or weapon needed almost immediately after. The game isn’t very difficult (it’s intended audience is kids), but the enemies can hold their own at times, especially as you progress. That being said, they’re more annoying than intimidating, but it’s always fun to take them out. Something that’s really cool is when they’re kno.
I like it to play the game.
