This show covers the video game revolution of the 80s. The show actually has a few more episodes from the end of the 70s that are available on YouTube. I highly suggest watching those three episodes (77, 78, & 79) before diving into this decade. I can’t recommend this show enough!Dear retrolio Video, please get these guys back together to finish out the 90s and even the first decade of the new millennium so we can see the console wars in full swing, relive the demise of Sega consoles, and see the rise of the Playstation and the XBox. They did these first 13 episodes with money that they raised, but with a big studio like yours, it shouldn’t be a problem and would probably be a fairly inexpensive investment on your part.
That was actually pretty good. I watched all of them. Nice work!
This is a classic-to-be that’s been mostly under the radar still. All the best games of the 80’s….lots of humor….great personalities, and really nice graphics and green screen effects. If you like video games, especially from the 80’s you might just like this series.Note:1977-1979 are available as full length episodes on Youtube, so maybe watch those first to stay in chronological order!
Great show with guests such as James Rolfe, Pat Contri, Norm the Gaming Historian, and some people that worked for Atari, Intellivision, etc. Some of the YouTubers that appear are not very good, but that is only about 5% of the show. Most of the people interviewed are good. The production and effects (green screen and color grading) are not amazing but the content in the show makes up for it. I also really liked the 3D graphics they made for certain segments. For anyone interested in retro games, I really recommend watching this.
This is an excellent, if sometimes a bit too gimicky, and fun documentary series that brought me back to when I was kid with my own Intellivision. It delves into design philosophy of some of the best known games, and unearths some interesting backstory on development and personalities behind the games. Plus, for the most part, each commentator is funny and engaging. Definitely worth a watch if you are an older gamer.
This is a fun walk through of some of the highlights of 80s video games. The series touches on the highs and lows of the era. It was nice to be reminder of some old games, that I had completely forgotten about, like Nintendo’s PlayChoice-10.
I quite enjoyed this series, pretty informative and overall an enjoyable watch. Not without a few faults but still great if you’re into the 80s or retro games. I’d love to see the 90s!!
Enjoyed all of it from beginning to end. We need more of this.
Whaaaaat? No Capcom "Street Fighter" in ’87? Egregious! Nay…criminal!
Great reviews, Loved that they got actual game professionals for interviews, as well as game enthusiasts. The inclusion of every thing from Computer games to stand up cabinets, to pinball, to consols, very inclusive. Most that I watch that cover this topic only stick to one of those and don’t cover it nearly as well. I have seen much of this info on Youtube in bit size pieces, so happy to have finally gotten to see it as it was meant to be seen!
