Description
Steins; Gate is a Japanese science-fiction visual novel. Steins;Gate’s gameplay requires little interaction from the player as most of the duration of the game is spent on reading the text that appears on the screen which represents either the dialogue between the various characters or the thoughts of the protagonist. Like many other visual novels, there are specific points in Steins;Gate where the user is given a choice to affect the direction of the game. Steins;Gate is set in the summer of 2010, approximately one year after the events that took place in Chaos;Head, in Akihabara. Physical locales of Akihabara like the Radio Kaikan building can be spotted in the game. The notion of time and time traveling are the main themes of the game. The concept of cause and effect is featured prominently in the game as the protagonist travels back in time numerous times to perform different actions in an attempt to alter what has happened in the future.

Awesome game
I only would recommend this to people familiar with Japanese pop culture, or people willing to give it a try with that in mind. If you’re also interested in theoretical physics, time travel stories, and internet subculture, Steins;Gate is definitely for you. In other words, Steins;Gate is rather niche, but if you fit that niche, it’s fantastic. It should be noted, Steins;Gate isn’t really a game, it’s a genre known in Japan as a visual novel, which means it’s primarily a story with very little interaction. The story is fully voiced, with accompanying still images, plus a cell phone mechanic to make it more immersive. The writing, it’s primary selling point, is fantastic. It’s very deeply researched, borrowing from many real life events, such as the widely known internet hoax/troll John Titor, and also deep discussion into real theoretical physics involving time travel. There’s tons of references to Japanese pop culture such as anime and manga, genre tropes like chuunibyou, and also internet subculture like 2chan (known as @channel in the visual novel). On top of that, the writers weave a very deep, intricate time traveling tale, which has very followable (if complicated), consistent rules, clear cause and effect, and multiple endings. If you’re familiar with the anime, you’ll find the game to be very much the same, down to directly lifted dialogue, however, the anime left out many minor details, or left them unexplained, so there is still value to playing. There are a few d.
If reading a tightly woven time travel drama for 30-ish hours sounds like your thing, this is the best there is. Forget that this is a translated game, or that it had a tiny development team, or that its an anime-esque title; this truly is an amazing experience unparalleled in its story telling. No worthless tropes, no contradictions or BS time loops. Everything has a purpose and meaning, and is the most believable time-travel concept and plot I’ve ever come across (by a large margin)
It would have been nice if they had the voice actors from the anime dub this game, but I don’t mind reading the subs and the Japanese voice cast match the characters pretty well. If you like visual novels, you’ll love this. Now can we get US releases of Chaos;Head and Robotics;Notes?
Thank you very much excellent service! Very much appreciated.
Great thus far. As expected for a visual novel.
This game is truly amazing. With a stellar voice cast, music, art, and especially writing, it builds a story that’s impossible not to get immersed in. I watched the anime a few years ago and really enjoyed it but playing the game that spawned the anime is even better. It’s much more detailed than the anime and definitely something nobody who’s a fan of the anime or just visual novels in general should pass up. If I could, I’d give it more than five stars!
