First of all, I am a huge Star Wars fan, so it was inevitable that I would play this game. As everyone else has said, the gameplay is great, the AI is superb, and the action is intense.I love having the ability to command a squad to perform the different jobs required to beat certain big enemies. You can command one guy to toss grenades from behind some boxes, another guy to man a turret and lay down heavy fire, and the third to snipe from far away, while you run around and keep the enemy distracted. The ability to make decisions while you’re incapacitated is brilliant. I was confident enough with the AI that for several missions I would let them clean up the area before ordering them to revive me.Anyways, onto the complaints. As others have mentioned, I ran into several situations in which one of my squadmates would get stuck. He would not respond to orders, killing him and reviving him didn’t help, in fact physically pushing him where I wanted him to go didn’t work. This happened on a couple of levels that I really could have used his help, but luckily when I completed that level, he would magically reappear with the squad.The only other complaint I have is that it’s too short. I was just getting into it when it abruptly starts rolling the end credits. I’m glad I just rented it. It’s a good weekend worth of play.One last thing: some of the banter between your squadmates throughout the game is hilarious. Whoever was writing this stuff needs to help Lucas with th.
story was incredible but the ending left you wanting more but with no sequel kinda let me down
What I thought the game was going to be was a generic first-person shooter but I was wrong the game was excellent and a must buy
A great classic Xbox game. Does work for 360, but you do have a chance of a small screen freeze when the game is auto saving. This game has the greatest AIs ever.
My son is a Star Wars fan and has enjoyed playing Republic Commando during the holidays. The game was shipped fast considering it was Christmas season. The case and game disk were in great condition and the manual was included. We were extreamly pleased.
This game is almost 9 years old, but I’ll still review it.The product description states that there are 8 "diverse" environments and 14 missions. In fact there are 3 environments (Geonosis, Abandoned republic cruiser, and Kashyyyk) split up into 8 missions spread through 14 areas.However, the graphics hold up even today, 2 console generations later. It’s comparable to the Halo series in its vibes and gameplay, but the environments themselves remind me of Call of Duty. In a good way. Of course, it’s very unique and the squad commanding system is one of the best and most important features of the game. It’s comparable but far more advanced to the Mass Effect series’ squad command system.The music, especially "Vode An" and "Dha Werda Verda" have a place in the story in addition to being background music. The deep, warlike mandalorian chants will get your blood and adrenaline pumping.Amazing game, even today, although the Platinum Hits edition had loading issues on my Xbox 360, whereas the original edition did not. It’s also somewhat difficult, and I needed to enter cheats to pass it on the PC version, but with Tamuera Morrison (Jango Fett) and Rafael Sbarge (KOTOR’s Carth Onasi, Mass Effect’s Kaiden Alenko), you have four very real characters. What this game set out to do was give an intense first-person shooter experience and making you feel like you’re in charge of a real squad, and it delivered.
Star Wars Republic Commando is a breath of fresh air for the Star Wars genere!!! Like I said it is a strategic first – person shooter like Ghost Recon except with kick @$$ sci-fi weapons, the vast environments which include: Genosis, a Republic Assusalt Ship, and Kayhssk; which the game spans out on!!! You play as a an elite Clone Trooper unit called Delta Force, specially trained commandos trained for the most dangerous and deadly situations!!! They are trained to be silent and swift and can make noise, lots of noise if needed!!! This elite squad of commandos include 07 “Sev”-he likes to get some head shots from a distance- sniper specialist; 40 “Fixer”- he likes to slice through systems and hack into enemy networks -computer specialist; 62 “Scorch’- he likes to blow stuff up – Demo specialist!!! You play as 38 the squad leader!!! It is up to you to direct your squad and to keep order during a deadly fire fight or engagement!!! You get a special weapon with different types of modifactions which has regular blaster rifle, sniper zoom, and anti – armor charges!!! During the game you must rely on your squad and they will rely on you!!! I included in this review an outline of the Story, Weapons, and the game in general!!! I even have some buying advice and ways to save money!!!Game Outline:Graphics: Some of the best ever ,almost seems really their combating against those Seperatists scum bags!!! When I got my republic commando game the instruction booklet was missing. I didn’t want to wait for retrolio to send me another game with a book so I pop the CD in my Xbox and hoped I’d be able to figure it out on my own. And I was able too, there are a lot of on screen hints to help you get through the 1st couple fights. But without the book I never did figure out how to get my men to search a room for me or destroy enemies for me as described in other reviews; I did most of the killing myself, and it took me awhile –by pushing ever button on the control pad– to figure out how to change weapons and reload. Still despite not having an instruction booklet to help me, I was still able to finish the games in 4 nights.Things I like about the game the graphic were great like watching a movie. I didn’t have to fit the bad guys over, over and over again; you know like other games –like episode III–were you die 7 or 9 times before you finally defeat the big villian and the story line keeps you hooked.Things I didn’t like about the game was missing the book. And it was over too quickly. I would say it is an easy game to play, anyone can finish it even if your not a big time game player. I would recommend playing this game 1st to get use to 1st person battle game play before buying hard M rating battle games.
I think it is a great entertainig game that really put me into the elite commando mode. Highly recommend this game.
