I am the biggest STAR TREK fan! So all of the games had been subpar but I played them anyway. Waiting for a game that allowed me to really feel the thrill. This new game is much much closer! I am thrilled to have it and play it!!!
I really found this game to be enjoyable. The story was engaging and very well acted. It really felt like you were watching a JJ Star Trek movie. If you are a Trek fan, you will enjoy this game.The game mechanics were decent, though a little clunky at parts (particularly the camera). The shooting controls were not problematic. I’m sure veterans of hardcore shooters may have problems with some of these issues.The the game play style is primarily shooter/cover and third-person perspective environmental interactions.Overall, I found this a solid Star Trek game.
Due to of all the negative reviews I waited for the price to drop, but being a Star Trek fan I had already made my mind up that I would get it. Because this is a movie tie-in released to coincide with the new movie – and the afore mentioned reviews, I already knew what to expect. After completing the game I was pleased to discover that the it was much better than I was expecting. There were two major issues I had with this game: First, the friendly AI seemed to be completely unfinished. I had the feeling that Star Trek was designed primarily as a co-op game meant to be played with another person controlling your partner, and the AI was thrown in as an afterthought for single player. I chose Kirk as my character, and Spock seemed to spend a lot of time doing nothing. He was little to no help in a firefight and often ignored orders while in a battle situation. More time should have been put into the co-op partner AI, maybe that’s the best they could do before the game had to be released. The other beef I have is there is a lot of guesswork involved. You’ve pretty much got to figure out for yourself the tricorder hacking mini games, and there’s one segment where you control the Enterprise that is trial and error. A mini tutorial would have been helpful, or some form of instruction manual – be it in-game or on paper. I hate the fact that more and more games are coming out with little to nothing in the way of a paper instruction manual, but they throw out all the stops.
This game is not very good. Then why did I give it 4 stars, you ask? It’s not good and couch co-op. So, your frustrations turn to jokes and you have an amazing time with your couch co-op partner.They did have some good thoughts. A lot of them were just poorly executed.

This game is amazing the graphics are great overall the storyline is quality and fits right in post 2009 movie. The interactions between Kirk and crew are stuff you can just picture the new crew saying to each other. The game makes innovative use of the tricorder and trek tech to be a very engrossing and rewarding trek experience. I started playing it this morning and 7 hours later just took my first break. Never bored not for a second. It easily engrosses you.
