What I wanted
Great job
The PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game are extremely glitchy and as a result nearly unplayable. The PS3 version is not perfect but it is the most playable of the three platforms. If you want to play the game and not troubleshoot it go for it on the PS3.The game is fun and different from other shooters. Order your partner, use the tricorder to find enemies you can’t see, call in an air strike and have the Enterprise blast stuff with photon torpedoes via your tricorder. The cover system is similar to mass effect. The game isn’t glitch free and just expect that going in and take it for what it is, an interesting and different take on science fiction shooters. There are a lot of surprises in the game (which I won’t spoil) which if you can get past game’s faults are really fun. The checkpoints are close enough where if you encounter a glitch and get stuck in a door or a wall (or if Spock is stuck and can’t get out of the way…MOVE YOU GREEN BLOODED, POINTY EARED HOBGOBLIN!) you can just load the last checkpoint and be back where you need to be in no time.I would say if you are not a Trekkie just avoid the game entirely. If you are and you really want to play the game opt for the PS3 version of the game at least until you hear news of a game patch for the 360 or the PC. I would not have so many chances if I were not so into Star Trek but I am glad that I did because it was a lot of fun and there was a lot that I wasn’t expecting.
I received the game thru the mail with no problems and disc was in great condition.I like this game for the fact I am a Star Trek fan, you can play as spock or kirk, use different types of weapons, good story, get to fly thru space solo. Anyone who is a Mass Effect fan might like this game minus you cannot control the other characters actions other than movement. A bug in this game is moving the other character if you are far away but when you need the other character to help you open a door, the character is there automatically. To me was worth the $20 bucks I paid.
This is a “gut reaction” review to my first few hours playing this game. Star Trek games have a reputation for being made on the cheap, with buggy game play and phoned-in stories. “Star Trek” breaks with this dubious tradition by delivering a game Trekkies and gamers alike would actually want to play. The game play resembles some of the better games of recent years. It resembles Dead Space in how players navigate futuristic installations playing cat and mouse with alien mosters. There are also searches for power cells to open doors, obstacle courses where you must seek cover for radiation and other perils, and an array of weapons. The tricorder scan resembles the “Detective Mode” from Arkham Asylum. The co-op play between Kirk and Spock is equally enjoyable when playing 2 player or with the AI.The crew of the Enterprise is voiced by the movie cast, and they are written both well and in-character. The story balances the need to deliver an action-packed adventure with the humanitarian goals of Starfleet and the series in general. The sounds, the sets, and the music all fit seamlessly with the new Trek universe. This feels like a legitimate instalment in the Star Trek reboot.I do have a few gripes. When not playing multiplayer, the AI is rather inept, frequently getting stuck behind you until you directly summon it. It also would have been nice to be able to swap between Kirk and Spock rather than being committed to one for the entire game. The Gorn redesign is so far outside o.
A great game
fun and good price
The game play is a little quirky, but I enjoyed it… If you can pick it up cheap, it’s worth your time.
The reveiws are right, this game is horrendous if played solo, that is why I bought two copies. I gave a copy to a friend and we play over the network. There is also an option for split screen. One player is so broken it is not an option.Good voice acting, decent graphics and story.Short, 8-12 hours.
Bought this for my husband for Father’s Day and he has been playing with my son for hours. Only thing about it is you cannot save your 2 player game, so that is a bit of a disappointment! So now they are sharing the game. Very great graphics and just like the movie!
