Well worth the money
I played the heck out of the SSX series for PS2, and so when I heard they were making a sequel, I immediately pre-ordered it. The single-player is as much fun as the old ones, and the online “beat my high score” community keeps things interesting, but the lack of a true head-to-head online multiplayer mode is flat out ridiculous in 2012.If you’ve played the previous SSX titles, then you know what to expect. High flying, unrealistic, extremely fast snowboarding. The gameplay is very similar to the previous games, and the graphics are seriously upgraded, as to be expected. The online multiplayer is lacking. Everybody’s favorite way to play the old SSX games was split-screen trick mode. You would think that they would include an online version of this. Want to race against 3 of your friends? Too bad – that’s not an option. Want to face off against a friend in a simultaneous trick run? Nope, that’s not available either. The multiplayer mode is really a single player post-a-high-score-then-see-if-your-friends-can-beat-it mode. Now, don’t get me wrong – it is fun to compete in the same global events as your friends, trying to get higher scores than them (and earn more money), and it’s engaging to see a pop-up on the screen that says “so-and-so has just beat your score on this run by X-million points.” But there is no reason why I shouldn’t be able to invite friends to a lobby and challenge them to a simultaneous race or trick run. Just an inexcusable omission in 2012 when online play.
I will say this in the best way I know how, SSX Tricky is back in the new
This game is awesome. This game is way fun and one of my favorite games I have but if it had splitscreen then it would be even better.
Only a one player game!! Super annoying
One of the best EA Sports games! This edition is great, good evolution of SSX games. We payed it on Xbox one and we were glad we were still be able to play this game. We wish they would be a new edition on Xbox one and with a multiplier mode (2players).
SSX was always the pick up and play any time game back in the PS2 days for me, and it was something I was missing from my current games library. I’m glad I picked up SSX to fill that void again. Still has the cool, relaxing, while at the same time, intense, racing energy as the original, but with enough additions like the squirrel fly suit, and "storyline" thrown in, varied game modes and new landscapes to make it feel like a new experience. It still has an awesome soundtrack that compliments the feel of the game completely, and is still really fun. A definite pick-up, especially at it’s cheaper price-point.
I had the original game for the xbox and loved it. As soon as I got the 360 I purchased this and am very happy
This is a truly great SSX game, IMHO. The style isn’t quite the same as SSX Tricky, but it’s refreshingly difficult to pull-off truly complicated moves, versus the more arcade-y "push a button and I’ll do my hardest trick"-type of control scheme used in many other extreme sports games (skateboarding games, snowboarding games, MX games, etc).I admit I waited for it to dip below $20 before I made a purchase, and if there’s a multiplayer element, I haven’t sampled it. I’ve had it for about a month and it satisfies the exact niche in my collection that I wanted it to: it’s a game that reminds me of the days of Tony Hawk 1 & 2 and the OG SSX Tricky on PS1, PS2, etc. It’s a game where I really feel compelled to pass the controller after my run, watch my friend try his best, and then take the controller back. Not a lot of games are setup to work well with that playstyle anymore.
great game.
