Love this series. A lot of fun per the Splinter Cell family of games.
I loaded Splinter Cell Blacklist, hoping that Ubisoft had kept their promises about "multiple game play styles" and "fully customizable loadouts". Thankfully, Ubi wasn’t kidding. The content was definitely there. However there are many problems that occur because of Ubi’s lack of dedication to a single play style. If you’ve been keeping up with the game’s trailers, you would know that one of the game’s main selling points was the ability to play with three different play styles: Panther, the silent, bloody type. Assault, the "gunz-a-blazin’" crowd. And lastly, Ghost, the stealthy operative. My main goal was to try and "ghost" my way through the game. That means no killing, and it most definitely means that no one can be aware of my presence. However there is a major problem with this. The game flat-out LIES to you.It doesn’t matter what YOU want to do, but rather what’s most important is the situation at hand.Multiple times in the campaign mode, you will come across moments of which the game DEMANDS you play in a certain play style. You can attempt to continue playing in your style of choice, but you’ll most likely end up with bullets up the arse.I’m not sure if you noticed, but the last time I wrote "ghost", I put quotations around it. This is because the game’s "ghost" standard isn’t what actual "ghosting" is in the Splinter Cell community. To be a ghost, you must do exactly as the title tells you to do… Be a ghost. Lea.
I’ve always loved the Splinter Cell series and the fact that you could use stealth or brute force to achieve objectives. Blacklist is no different in that regard but it is a very nice upgrade from the older games – before it went to xbox only. However, it is one tough game to play even in ‘rookie’ mode. But that’s part of the challenge, isn’t it? There’s always something someone isn’t going to like about it so I won’t go into my personal negatives, but as far as gameplay, I haven’t run across any serious faults other that it kicks my butt on a regular basis. Enjoy the game.
I have all of Tom Clanceys Splinter Cell console games for PS 2 & PS 3! I have enjoyed every one of them, except when they made "Conviction" for XBOX 360! I was very disappointed Ubisoft did this and was elated when Blacklist came out. By far the best gaming ever! Thanks for coming back! I am truly enjoying it. Looking forward 2 more Sam Fisher…even though he 2 has been updated with a new voice & appearance. It would be nice to have Conviction 4 PS3Here’s hoping!!! Keep up the good work.
My son bought this and loves it. It is very challenging. He likes the fact you can play with 2 players also. He and his friend can play at the same time. Graphics are very good.
I love this game! Playing co-op with my brother on the missions even when miles away is so much fun. The developers did a great job with the levels and content. I’ve started to get glitches more recently, but worked great when I first got it
This has to be one of my favorite games. As an original splinter cell fan, I was happy that stealth was much more incorporated in this game than it was in Conviction. As you play, you’re always given a choice. You can go loud or quiet, lethal or nonlethal, and whether if you’d like to engage enemies or not. With these options, this game can be your ultimate stealth game or your action blockbuster. It’s what you make it.Pros: • Great gameplay • Better controls • Decent story • Lots of customization • Do things your way • Fun and strategic multiplayer/coop experience (I recommend playing coop with a friend) • Great support from Ubisoft with ShadowNetCons: • Glitches (Some funny, some infuriating) • Host migration ends the match • In-game money becomes useless after about 50% game completion. You’ll have everything you want and won’t really spendOverall, I enjoyed the game a lot. There are a number of challenges and collectibles that make replayablilty very high
I will not get into storyline details, to avoid any potential spoiler. The gameplay is extremely smooth, Fisher moves fluently around during the mission. The story itself is what you’d expect from the SC series. The only negative for me is the single player game length, which is rather short. I would’ve liked to have more campaign time, as I do not play online multiplayer games. This game was clearly design with online play more so then single player, which is the way games are heading these days. That’s a shame.I rated it 4 out of 5 stars due to its attempt to "force" you to a multiplayer "experience" (Mercs vs. Spies). I bought this when it was new, so I would’ve like more gameplay time for my $60.
If you like stealth then this will keep you on the edge of your seat, play with patience or just go in and clean house, it’s up to you to choose your own play but to make a long story short just buy the game and have lots of fun.
This is seriously the most awesome game ever! My brother and I have been looking for a multiplayer split screen game for ages. The solo campaign is great and there are plenty of multi player missions. Only downside is no one seems to play online anymore, which is expected I guess with such an ‘old’ game.
