I hadn’t played Pokemon since 2000, and even then, it was the original Pokemon Red.I can’t speak on how this compares to other editions, with the exception of Pokemon X, which I also have as of recently. Whereas Pokemon X feels sluggish, this edition feels and plays very smoothly. I notice a good bit more optimization in the engine. Because so, I find it very hard to go back and continue playing X. It feels like a first-generation 3D game did in the Playstation/N64 era. The controls, as well, are a major improvement over X.But specifically about Alpha Sapphire. I haven’t even scratched the surface on the game’s content, but I am glad. Even from the beginning, it feels like there is a lot of life left in the game. It is of course going to end up being more of the same, but that is sort of the charm with Pokemon, really. I ran back and forth in one area of a tunnel just so I could encounter an elusive Pokemon again… and I’m in my thirties. This game makes me feel like that kid again, while I never want to relive being a kid, it is a nice escape to be back in that mindset if only for a little bit.
I’ve been a longtime fan of the pokemon games. I was very eager for this remake and when I enjoyed it a lot I was a little let down by some factors involving this game. The customizable fashion option found in X and Y was missing. There’s not many new things in this remake to make it stand out and made more memorable.Battling against trainers, gym leaders and the villain teams is too easy, especially if the exp. share is turned on to distribute exp. points to the whole team to level them up faster. Those battles against the supposedly tough gym leaders and the villainous teams disappointed me.But on the plus side, the graphics is stunning, the atmosphere of this world is breathtaking You should see the sunken ship in there! One of the neatest things to admire in comparison to the original RSE games.I liked the 3D introduction of each gym leaders you encounter, you get to see more of their personality in 3D than you do the expressionless pixels of them in RSE.There’s just so many things I could go on about this game but I think I’ll stop it right here.I would recommend this to pokemon fans but must warn that those who played the original RSE may face some disappointments with this remake, but that shouldn’t stop it from being enjoyable.Happy gaming!
This review is useful for both Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire as both are practically the same game, with only slight version differences. The version differences are explained in this article: This is a must have game for any Pokemon fan. I have played every generation of Pokemon game (only main series titles) and I have to say this is the best experience so far. All of the best things that you remember are present, with updates added for smoother play. This modern take on the original Ruby and Sapphire is refreshingly nostalgic, with the addition of new game elements, making the entire experience feel new. This is not meant to be a full review ( here is a link for a full review: http://kotaku.com/pokemon-omega-ruby-and-alpha-sapphire-the-kotaku-revie-1659957634 ), but I will touch on some things.- The game is much more cinematic due to 3dBefore in Ruby in Sapphire (though then they were a major improvement to graphics), much was left to the imagination. In ORAS, you see things from angles you haven’t seen before and animations are much better. This leads you to feel much more immersed in the story.- A much better map, utilizing spotpassBefore it was a chore to check on your berries. With this new map you can see when your berries are ready to be collected anywhere in the world. It will even tell you what berries you were growing. The same thing is true for trainers. This time around trainer’s eye is much more user friendly, letting you know exactly when and where.
Nephew enjoyed this game and for the time played seemed to be a good value.
I played the original when it came out in 2003. The world within Alpha Sapphire evokes every bit of nostalgia I had hoped it would.Chances are you already acquainted with Pokemon and how they work. So IĆ¢ā¬ā¢ll spare you a lengthy introduction to the world of Pokemon ala Prof. Oak.There are new features that enhance the gaming experience as well as the replayability factor. There are new dexNav modes that allow you to search for specific pokemon, and doubles as a sort of minigame in finding all the pokemon in an area. Mirage islands provide an excellent area for training as well as finding new pokemon. It may just be me but I found that more pokemon from Johto are more prominent than before Ć¢ā¬ā which is a huge plus for me as its my favorite generation.ItĆ¢ā¬ā¢s an excellent entry in the series, and a great starting point for beginners.
I bought Pokemon Omega Ruby for myself, and Alpha Sapphire for my 7-year-old cousin who LOVES Pokemon. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have voiceovers. He can’t read very well, so he isn’t able to follow the storyline, but he loves battling and catching Pokemon. The icons when looking through your inventory and shops helps him out a lot though for resupplying. I noticed several more multiplayer features than the original Pokemon Sapphire, as well as ridiculously enhanced graphics. Great game, and an amazing remake of my own favorite childhood Pokemon game.
I know this review is a few years late, however, as the saying goes better late than never eh?Pokemon Alpha Sapphire is a great game. I was amongst those who rushed through the game on his first playthrough so that I could get to the end game content and start breeding for competitive play. After all, I had played through the original Generation 3 games a myriad of times and there could only be so many things different with this remaster right?Well after rushing through the game, I started over and took my time and enjoyed the game. It was much better that way. Trying to catch all the Pokemon in any given area, raising up all the Pokemon I like etc.I really enjoy the DexNav and DexNav Shiny Chain hunting. It’s not perfect though, and sometimes it will constantly tell you that the Pokemon you are searching for cannot be found and to search in another spot. Even if you’ve been chaining that Pokemon 50 times before this in succession. It’s kinda annoying and even more so when you search the entire area and the DexNav doesn’t find it.I really like O-Powers and the Battle Resort. It makes Masuda Method breeding really easy. And EV training in this game is great as well and it’s really cool how you can reset Pokemon’s EVs easily and Hyper Training is awesome. The GTS… overall is terrible. Most players are jack wagons who ask for legendary Pokemon like Celebi and Mew for their level 4 Hoppip and Sunkern so it’s not really of much use when trying to complete your Pokedex, however, t.
Got Pokemon: Alpha Sapphire for my hubby since he has been bugging out to play my copy of Pokemon: Omega Ruby and I don’t want him accidentally saving progress when he’s done something stupid. LOL!He loves it.Very fun games, all kind of similar with minor twists and turns to the stories, i’ve loved Pokemon ever since I was maybe 10? I’m 26 now. Still playing the games. I remember when they were on the Nintendo Gameboy series. Graphics have evolved a lot since then. Now we’re on the 3ds and I can say the Pokemon series is still just as fun to play, with more internal light source than a Gameboy so you can actually play at night or in bed.I refuse to mess up the story line for you but this game is suitable for kids, adults, and anyone who likes collecting/fighting/breeding cute monsters. (If you don’t know what Pokemon is to begin with…) Definitely excited for the new ones (Sun & Moon) coming out at the end of this year!!!
I get to re-live my childhood once again! When I was little, Pokemon Sapphire was my first game (my little sister had Pokemon Ruby) and now I get to play the remake in a whole new way! I just like everything about this remake and I also like the feature that you can join with others online at anytime instead of being interrupted during your gameplay (that happens when you play Pokemon X & Y). The gameplay redesign is fantastic and I love that you can interact with your pocket monsters & I also like that the Exp. Share works with all the Pokemon in your party (makes training a whole lot easier). This game is definitely worth getting and I would also suggest getting the guide book too. Tons of fun! Way to go Nintendo! Now lets see a 3DS release of Pokemon Yellow.
This game is stunning and a great remake of my personal favorite generation. Emerald was my first pokemon game ever that I alone owned and didn’t have to share with my older brothers and I played it probably 1000 times through. This remake makes playing the game fun all over again. A little bit dissapointed they removed the charachter customization that was in XY but it’s not needed. My dad also got Ruby version of this game and after exclusively playing pokemon yellow on an old game boy he really loves the new style of gameplay and the animations.
