I haven’t played any of the newer Sonic games, so this was my first experience with 3D Sonic. Each level has two acts: one where you get to play the original 2D, side-scrolling style and one where you get the newer 3D style. Both styles play very well and there seems to be a good variety of obstacles and levels. The newer 3D Sonic has more abilities and his levels are more dynamic, but the 2D Sonic is still fun. All the level backgrounds are from past Sonic games, which is fun if you remember them.My son is about five and he enjoys playing the game, though the levels near the end are a little tricky for him. The main story isn’t terribly long if you were to just sit down and race through it. There are a bunch of side mission levels and hidden tokens in each level to encourage multiple playthroughs. Any level can be replayed over and over and over and over. One thing the game does that I really like and I wish more games would do is it has a theater mode where you can go rewatch any of the cutscenes in the game. My son will just sit and watch cutscenes sometimes.
After buying and playing Sonic Colors, I was kind of underwhelmed with that game, and so I bought Sonic Generations and hoped that it would be better than its predecessor. Well it was better in my opinion than the "fluffy" Colors game, but still I was not as happy as some other Sonic games such as Sonic ’06 , Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic and the Secret Rings. The game play was decent, but the story was severely lacking. The music was bad but that is to be expected on a Sonic game. The graphics are good but the environment is always the same green hilly areas almost every level. The game is very short and it is almost a little too hokey and sickening the way characters dance after you rescue them. I still recommend this game but if you are like me and enjoy the Sonic games I mentioned above–you’ll probably feel the same that I do–it was Sonic but left me still wanting more. (this is a review by this account holders son)
For the first time in around 13 years, since the release of Sonic Adventure 2 battle, here’s a game you can enjoy without worrying about map design and unwanted falls. This game is well thought. Seems Sega did a lot of testing, because when you feel that you triggered a glitch, there’s something on the map (like a spring) that will get you back up and running again.Maps are ample and loading times are very fast.Soundtrack may disappoint or not, since it’s all about past Sonic games (up to Sonic Colors). Although it seems strange, these soundtracks are not from the maps of the game (better YouTube them).Side missions (most of them) are fun and very original. If you have the opportunity then grab a copy because you will enjoy every moment of it.
My son is almost 4, and a Sonic fanatic. Bought this game to play with him. We have several other Sonic titles, but I like this one. On some of the first levels, he can clear them himself. The harder levels he asks me to clear them, and then we both celebrate when we get through it. There’s A LOT of content. The harder levels are really pretty cool, with big construction cranes, monster semi trucks chasing you down, helicopter and rocket rides. And, of course, lots of Sonic speed. There’s big Sonic, and little Sonic, which my son loves too. That way there’s "Daddy Sonic" and "Little Sonic" in the game.
I have to admit the only Sonic Games I liked was the original Genesis Sonic 1, 2 and 3. When it started going 3D I just lost all interest in it.Now Years later I’m glad I found this game, it brings back the old days of 2d side scrolling game, the game is just so packed with levels and details, side quests, secrets, store, upgrades, music, soundtrack, bosses, Sonic Friends and Art. You can also switch the voice language. And Yes the Xbox live servers are still up and running, you can enjoy online with a used copy of this Game.I even started liking the 3d levels with this game, changed my mind completely. Can’t get over how good the soundtrack and detail of levels are.Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I am.Peace
I ordered this for my nephewĆ¢ā¬Ā¦ The product came super fast and he absolutely loves this game! Are used to play Sonic the Hedgehog when I was a teenager many moons ago and IĆ¢ā¬ā¢ve always loved any game featuring this adorable creature! IĆ¢ā¬ā¢ve actually played the game with my nephew and it is super fun and challenging for all!
EASILY the best Sonic game since Sonic & Knuckles (Sonic 3)! I bought this because like a mindless drone I buy everything Sonic. I expected it to kind of suck but it does anything but suck. I mean it’s like when I first got this game back in 1991 but replaying them in HD with crazy effects and 3D. All of the moves are there for 16-Bit Sonic and the new Sonic. Seriously if you’re a Sega and Sonic fan this is the ultimate game. I seriously played through Green Hill and and Chemical Plant and was STUNNED at how awesome this game is. Automatically goes to the top of my favorite Xbox 360 games. I just hope they make more games like this going forward because it’s damn near perfect as far as Sonic goes. The music is INCREDIBLE…. man do I love me some Sonic music. Buy this if you’re in doubt and witness Sonic as he should be known to the new generation of video gamers!!
But this for my eight-year-old son, my five-year-old daughter and I play it instead. I bought it thinking it would be like the old, much higher quality than the old and moves a lot faster. If you’re expecting it to be slow like the old Sonic games for Sega Genesis you will be in quite a shock
I’ve been a huge fan of Sonic ever since I first played the original games on the Sega Genesis. So when I heard about Sega bringing back side-scrolling Sonic along with some classic levels I with very excited. You’ll be glad to know Sonic generations doesn’t disappoint.Gameplay:Sega did a fabulous job at with designing the levels in this game. You can speed right through most of them if you want but if you go too fast you’ll miss jumps and alternate routes that may get you special items of even get you to the finish line even faster. There is a great balance in the game of speed and a skillful timing. You can even use points you earn in between levels to buy power-ups, from shields to extra rings, to give you a little extra edge in beating different stages.Content:I was worried at first that this was going to be a short game because of how fast sonic can plow through levels but wow did they pack this game with a lot of content. You have nine normal levels, all inspired by classic stages, which you play through as both 2D and 3D Sonic. Then each of those Stages has 5 red rings to find and 5 bonus mini-games to play for each sonic. Finally, you have some rival characters to compete with for chaos emeralds and a couple of bosses to take down.Story:At last we have the story. I think Sega did a fabulous job keeping the short and simple. Its quite an amusing tale of sonic trying to rescue all his buddies from this mysterious dark time traveling foe.In the end, I can hones.
Got this for my 5 year old, as he’s now in the age where he loves everything Sonic. I have the PC version, but thought he would have more fun playing on a console (and easier for him to get the game going on his own). We have a lot of fun playing together.
