The GoodWell-balanced squad command mechanic Forty Five is a refreshingly authentic female soldier Enjoyable cooperative mode Soundtrack creates a sense of place and purpose Weapon improvements are persistent across every mode. The BadStealth action has some hitches Intermittent network issues Occasionally wonky AI.Though it has a long history of bringing tactical third-person shooter action to Sony systems, the SOCOM series’ debut on the PlayStation 3 failed to fully capture the excitement of its predecessors. Yet while SOCOM: Confrontation disappointed, SOCOM 4 delivers. The substantial campaign makes good use of setting and characters to create an engaging tour of duty in which squad tactics play a nicely balanced role. The online cooperative mode lets up to five players band together for stand-alone missions that can offer a serious challenge and engender a good sense of camaraderie. Those looking for competition will find plenty to like in the online multiplayer, where up to 32 players compete on large, well-designed maps in a variety of game types, including tense variants with the classic SOCOM rules that disallow respawning in the middle of a match. Both single- and multiplayer do have some issues, including imperfect stealth action, visual oddities, and intermittent network problems. Fortunately, these limitations don’t spoil the fun, and SOCOM 4 makes it exciting to experience what each mode has to offer.

I’ve read the reviews here and well, none do this game justice.First, I’m a classic SOCOM addict. When I say addict I mean it, and fellow SOCOM addicts know who they are. If you are not sure if you ever suffered an addiction to this game but think you were a fanatic about this game, I’m not talking about you. I’m talking about the people who spent three years of their life playing SOCOM I & II 20+ hours a week. For many it was the first gaming experience with a headset. The people who were so addicted to the game the put up with crappy servers, broken mic systems, and Game Sharks for 3+ hours EVERY night. Clan tags of HSB and >KS< come to mind. This review is by one of you. Here are my points of this game:#1 If you play this game in a re-spawn mode you are a hoser. You might as well go play CoD or Battlefield. This game is not designed for the re-spawn format. It is a tactical shooter, and when played for what it actually is it’s truly as addictive as SOCOM I & II.#2 Former fans should buy the classic medley DLC AFTER they learn the new maps. Trust me when I say this is the best thing you can possibly do. While the nostalgia is tempting, put it off. Force yourself to discover the cubby holes and camping routes of the new maps, you will discover it not so long a period of time that they are actually designed pretty damn well.#3 When you die always watch those who are left. This is the BEST way to learn the game. Newbies will be hosed fast, don’t let it get you down, you’ll.
Fun game once you get the hang of it. Thanks
Excellent game
I pick up this game during a discount, it was fun to play, a third-person squad-base tactical shooter created by the original design team at Zipper Interactive, with a 32-player online combat scenarios will test every gamer’s fortitude in battle, if you like third-person shooting game than this game is for you.
The campaign for SOCOM has always been awesome. I finally got a chance to play it online for a while and I wasn’t really impressed. You can not play in a small map becuase all it is, is throwing grenades and getting blown up. Even on the larger maps grenades really mess up the game and its not much fun.If you like the COD first person shooting don’t even try this you will not be very happy, all of your shooting is 3rd person pov.All in all this is a good game. But if you like your COD then don’t bother with this.
Great, underrated game for PS3!
