i own them all on 360, this is the only one where very early in the game, you actually run for your life from what!!.. i honestly dont know lolyou wont be disappointed, buy them all for the real experience
My favorite Silent Hill game. Dark, scary and the game play is very good. As with all Silent Hill games its creepy and the story line is as creepy as those prior to Downpour. I highly recommend this game for anyone who likes the survival horror genre.
I’ve played Silent Hill since the first game released on the PS1. After the 3rd game, the franchise went downhill quickly and Downpour is the first game I’ve played since then that brings the old Silent Hill feeling back. My one major complaint is that it feels too short for today’s standards. I would have liked a bit more secondary character involvement and story lines to juice it up and lengthen it out.
This is a Silent Hill game and even though some have said it doesn’t feel like one, to me it does. I really enjoyed my playthrough. However, this is not an achievement hunters game of choice. It takes time to get achievements and more than one playthrough which I find unwise. Of course, achievements don’t do anything but some people like me really like to get them. I don’t want easy ones but jeez don’t make me waste my time trying to get them. Anyway, with that out of the way I will say that this game is very good. It is not as scary as some of the other Silent Hills but it is better than Homecoming because you don’t get stuck as often and it is fluid. I do wish they incorporated some of the side missions in better. You pretty much have to go out of your way to find them and this can get a little annoying. It doesn’t rain as much as it should have for a game with downpour in the title. When it does rain though the monsters act crazy. There are only like 6 or 7 different types of monsters but that seemed to be enough. Overall, if you can get this game cheap or rent it do so. I waited a while to get it so it was $15 when I purchased it. If I would have paid $60 for this it would not have been as good but who does that nowadays anyway with all the reviewers and everything to help. You know when something is worth $60 and when it is not just do some research.
Great horror game as expected with Silent Hill. Homecoming was great and downpour was even better. One of the few games that made me scream like a little girl
One of my favorite releases of 2012. I say avoid the negative reviews and give this one a shot, especially if you are a fan of the series who has been scared off due to mixed reviews. The technical issues, at least for the 360 version, have been addressed with a patch, so the game runs much better that it did at launch. My personal favorite of the series.
I have to start by saying that I love silent hill. Aside from a few bumps, this franchise still stays true to form, which is a joe (or sally) q. anybody, with some demons in their pasts, who somehow ends up inthe purgatory that is silent hill, and then are given the option to either overcome those demons, or be consumed by them. Is it glitchy- it has it’s problems – having said that, I have seen some so-called AAA titles that had less polish. If you like to take your time with a game, put some headphones on, and get absorbed by a sometimes hauntingly scary story, then you owe it to yourself to give this a try.
I know that the fans of the silent hill games didn’t care to much for this game because it didn’t save when it said that it was saving but i had no trouble with mine i actually love this game and it’s the best silent hill so far on next gen systems
First off, little about me. I have played them all. Every silent hill. Only ones I treasure are Silent Hill, Silent HIll 2, Silent Hill 4 : The Room, and Silent hill: Origins. The others I will never play again for many many reasons, so this way you will understand my review a little better.Ok, first off the game is amazing. I havent finished it yet so I cant say on the ending but the game is self feels like old school silent hill. Clunky combat system is back but is a plus. Will explain that later. If you are a fan of the first few you will be pleased. Go out and buy now, im so excited to see what happens next in every part of the game. Way better than Homecoming was. Here is the rundown-Pros+Creepy set up for the town, you can really search around and check almost everything you want. Some rooms are empty, just like in real life. So you have to search real good. And the set up of the town just looks and feels real.+Nice change up of weapons. Not too much ammo so you dont feel like rambo. Otherwise play Resident Evil. Not too much health either, tho is a pain in the its better for fear.+Nice music, not as good as the guy he replaced but close. Real close.+Strong Characters, you want to know more about each. Creepy characters just like the first few silent hills.+Replay value, side missons you can go back and redo. Option on harder puzzles. Find new things within the town.+New part of town to search, makes it feel like Silent hill one all over with new everything. Like the fi.
Silent Hill 2 was one of my favorite games. The atmosphere and story were fantastic and I was disappointed that the later games were lacking in comparison.Downpour recaptures the spookiness that made me love the series. You can tell a lot of care was put into the game experience to make sure it was intuitive, not repetitious and overall fun to play. One element they nailed was making you care about the main character. Uncovering the secrets of his past as the game progressed kept me interested in him and this is key because Silent Hill has always been about the psychology of madness, regret and fear.I’m only halfway through the game but I am enjoying playing it so much that wherever the story ends up, I know it was fun getting there. One complaint, as others have said, the "monsters" aren’t as creepy as the other games and you’ll probably be avoiding them mostly rather than fighting.
