Love this game
I think my 5 year old going to be an gold medalist. The game does what it says. Love the board
I just got this game about one week ago and I LOVE IT! I love using the balance board. By the time I am done I am sweating and didn’t even realize that I had gotten a work out. Good game.
A whole lot of fun if you are a snowboarder. Its played best on a wii fit board.
I’ve snowboarded for several years and with the balance board, Shaun White Road Trip feels surprisingly true to snowboarding. This isn’t a simulation of snowboarding obviously, but for fitness fanatics, you’re going to have a fun workout when playing. I can actually feel the same muscles burn, as I would from snowboarding, after a 3 minute run.The controls are fairly straightforward with the exception that you will need to hold the wiimote while on the balance board. Also, I think it’s important to note that unlike wii fit’s snowboard minigame, Road Trip has quick and responsive controls in calculating the varying weight shifts and distributions; which makes the balance board a must buy with this game. However, I found it extremely difficult to do any spins in the air. And, if you’re a snowboarder I recommending using the highest settings for better board control. The graphics in the game are unique, but leave a lot to be desired. I feel that I must be playing a different game from other reviewers because this is definitely not one of the prettiest games on wii. There isn’t really much going on during a run down the mountain. In fact after playing 1080 on my virtual console, I can’t see too much of a difference on my hdtv. However, the game’s artistic style and great sense of speed somewhat make up for this. The gameplay is comprised of a linear run down a mountain where you collect items, ride in a time trial, or score a certain amount of points to advance to your next.
I went through several phases of liking/loving this game1) I’m not a huge gamer, but I like the Wii and the idea of games that get us up off the couch, so I got Shaun White Target Edition around Christmas 2008 for the Wii balance board. At first I didn’t quite “get it” and was a little disappointed since I had been looking forward to it and it was only semi-fun. I took a break from it for a while.2) I decided to try it again and started playing regularly to figure it out. I realized what the “carve” move was, and that helped with steering tremendously! Eventually, I got the hang of the tricks and started really loving it. I beat most of the “regular levels”, but just barely.3) Then I hit a rut. I had beat most of the regular levels, but the unlocked harder levels seemed impossible! I tried and tried but just couldn’t seem to get close to the required scores, except on one halfpipe level – I always came within 2000 of the 20000+ needed, so I kept practicing.4) One day, I figured out how to do enough tricks in the long halfpipe level to get the score I needed. I started playing all of the “hard” levels and slowly beat each one. It gets to be quite a workout! I wish I had two balance boards, because when you get this good, you pretty much have “been there, done that” and it would be really cool to have 2 people competing side by side, so I want to try that someday. So at this point, I’ve beat every level I can see except “fugue state” (and I’ll let you figure out for yourself why.
My 12yr. old loves this game. Just so you know you don’t have to have the WII fit balance board to play this game but it does make it better. The only downfall of this game is the ugly characters, all but Saun White, he looks the same.
I got this game for me and yet my son is loving the game. He is 9 and has never snowboarded before. It is fun with or without the balance board. I prefer the balance board however. My one problem is that using the balance board is a lot harder to pull combination tricks and score big points. The point requirements are higher without the balance board but the difference is not enough. People playing for the first time with a remote scored 2x to 3x as many points as I did with the balance board. The “cartoony” boarders look good and work well enough in the game. You really do feel like you are snowboarding down a mountain when you are on the balance board. There is room for improvement but overall it is a great game for the balance board. Try it and you won’t be disappointed.
This is an awesome game to go with my wii fit. Once you get the hang of it, you will play forever.
If you have wii fit board – don’t miss this game. Background music and anomation is awesome. You will feel like yourself snow boarding in the mountains.I also like my wii sports – both are great games I think every wii player should not miss.
