This is such a fun game for everyone in the family! From our 10 year old granddaughter to us 70 year old seniors!
Fun, works as advertised. scoring is a little wonky (it is manual, up to you to hit button) Really needs 4 players minimum but better with more. The more the merrier.
Perfect game for a party in the living room; bought antlers for every other person to wear to help remember when you should be guessing; loved how you didnt need a table surface which limits the # of players
The game does not have an off button. The batteries need to be screwed in. So it is hard to take it anywhere cuz loud tick tick and buzzer sound.
I love this game. Instead of playing team-style and using point’s, we play hot-potato style and make a drinking game out of it. If you’re holding it when the buzzer goes off, you drink. If you say part of the phrase you’re supposed to be describing, you drink. No rhyming allowed, no charades. It’s tons of fun. I even sent one to my sister for Christmas.
Perfect activity for family. Played so often the words were Ć¢ā¬Ålearned.Ć¢ā¬ĀHave difficulty finding other sets of cards.
We already owned a copy (ours is white and blue) and we wanted to get this one for a family member. Got to play it with them on Christmas. The only complaint I can come up with for this version is that the ticking sound is a little louder than it needs to be. But once you try to play Catch Phrase this way, you never want to go back to the paper version of the game. This keeps time and score while displaying your phrase to you, so it’s everything you need. The batteries in mine last for a year or two with regular use, so hopefully this is no different. You can’t turn the game off, it just shuts off by itself if no buttons are pressed for a while. For those who have never played this, the game itself is fast paced and fun. It is ideal as a party game or in larger groups. When one person starts he/she has a word or a phrase displayed on the little digital screen. Let’s say it’s “Living the Dream”. The individual then has to try to get his/her teammates to guess and say out loud the phrase without saying any of the words, saying what they rhyme with, or gestures. With the exception of occasionally getting stuck, or accidentally saying a form of one of the words (like “to live) and having to start over with a new phrase, it is a quick game of verbal charades – in this example maybe you would tell people how many words and maybe getting them to guess “the opposite of dying?” and “what do you do when you sleep?” and hoping that they put it all together. But the fun of it is that you.
I have always loved this game. Itsgreat for parties and groups of friends. Just a heads up, the description said it comes with batteries, but it doesn’t. Not worth marking off a star, cause I can easily get them, but I would have ordered them at the time so they would be shipped together. Just an annoyance.
Best purchase I’ve made in a long time. Catch Phrase has gotten my entire family around the table for game night many times in the past month, and many of those have been at the request of my teenager. Not. Even. Kidding. Catagories are challenging enough for the adults but keep the kids in the game, too (youngest is 11). VERY fun and highly recommended.
We bought this for our 9-year-old grandson and it is way over his head. The recommendation is for ages 12-15 but I would be surprised if many 15 year-olds have the life experience needed to recognize a lot of the terms in the game. It was fun for all of the adults in our group though! Hasbro should make a version for younger kids—they’d love it!
