Rollcage Stage II is the second and unfortunately final US release in the Rollcage series, which, next to Wipeout, are a couple of the best futuristic racing series ever released. Rollcage lets you drive up the walls and even upside down on the ceiling of certain structures. And if you fall, that’s OK, because the cars are designed to drive even when they’ve been flipped over! Combine that with an extensive focus on speed and combat, and you get my favorite PS1 era racing game, hands down.Rollcage Stage II improves on the original by adding more cars (20 compared to the original’s 7), more tracks and more game modes.There’s the standard arcade mode, but there is also a league mode for longer form gaming. Even there, you can further break down the game to be standard scoring based on what position you come in, or a points based system in which your finishing position is only one factor – you also get scored what you did during the race.My favorite mode, though, is the scramble mode, which is essentially a challenge to get to the end of the track in a very short amount of time, and then you will get rated Gold, Silver, or Bronze depending on your finishing time. These tracks start out fairly simple, but the difficulty ramps up quick. Thankfully, you instantly restart as soon as you fall off or fail, so you don’t have to worry about reloading the stage every time you want to try for a faster time.I recently re-purchased this game on retrolio, and I was surprised how well th.
Man… The nostalgia is strong with this one. I had this game as a kid and lost it, but now I have it again and it’s as I remember it. I love it.
I rented the first one, and I loved that one and I just about beat it, but when I was ready to get it, it had stopped selling so I bought this one, and I gotta say WOW. The tracks are short, but that does not keep me from loving this game. Your car flips and keeps going, you can go so fast you can see the air heating in front of you, and the best part is, you can ride on the ceilings. There are many different cars to choose from and it provides a great challenge. The graphics aren’t the best, but they arent bad. I highly recomend this game, there are also multiple weapons to choose from to slow down your opponent. If this game is you’re type, get it.

This is a very good/fun game. A lot of creativity went into its design. Futuristic racing games seem to be very rare these days. Its good that one can still get ahold of a new copy of this game.
