This game rocks. One of the best I have ever played! Way too much fun to put down. I recommend this to anyone.
Rogue Trip is definitely one of those car-combat games you need to own. Like its’ predecessors(Twisted Metal 1&2), it’s full of frantic, crazy action. Only this one is a bit more zany and humorous, not as serious as the Twisted Metal series. It came out around the same time as Twisted Metal 4 but blew the doors off of that game. These guys know car-combat up and down. Sad to say, though, It’s the first and last of its’ kind. Seeing as Singletrac(Incog. Inc.) got its’ TM license back, we’ll probably never see a sequel to this one. And that’s a bummer. I woulda loved to see one.If you love car-combat or just love car games, look into Rogue Trip…you won’t be disappointed.
The creators of Twisted Metal 1 and Twisted Metal 2 makes another great game. This game is definitely a good predecessor to the currently famous Twisted Metal: Black. This game is basically a car-combat game with a mission statement: pick up passengers, earn some spending cash, and take them to see the sites around the country, from the Washington, D.C. Mall to Hollywood. Throughout the game, you basically use the cash to repair your car when it’s damaged and upgrade weapons to attack your enemies better. The controls are similar to Twisted Metal, and for the veterans of Twisted Metal, it shouldn’t take too long to learn these controls. The characters are also remarkably similar to Twisted Metal 2, but this game offers a humorous take on Twisted Metal. You have characters ranging from Ratman to Agent Orange, and their vehicles are really insane. The Specials range from a cutter-saw of the Ratmobile to the Stinkmissiles from Agent Orange. The bosses aren’t too hard either, and they are beatable, once you figure out their vulnerabilities. The graphics and scenery are actually very spectacular, even for the Playstation. The sparkle effects of missiles is a good piece of eye-candy. The cars even have a nice shine to them! The arenas are actually fairly large, and they are not claustrophobic and small like Twisted Metal 3.The major failure lies in the multiplayer, especially if one of the players is greedy. Both players have to assist each other for it to work properly,.
Works great.
Bought this for my son. He had it on his old PlayStation & fiended for it for yrs! It’s old-school but an excellent game! Better than Twisted Metal that was based on it.However, since it was written on now outdated code, it appears chunky on newer PlayStations & digital/HDTV sets. But that’s ok! Its still a fun game! Lets blow stuff up! Lol!
As I write this Rogue Trip is going for new $90.95! That is the price for excellence. Made by most of the creators of Twisted Metal 1 and 2 (and later TM: Black, TM: Small Brawl and TM: Head On) this game is nearly TM2’s equal for me. Its sense of humor is truly “twisted” and its fun factor is through the roof. Also I disagree with the Gamespot review. Vigilante 8 was not better than Rogue Trip. While V8’s graphics were superior, it fell short in terms of both level design and gameplay in my view. V8 was quite simply the shiny new title around. It had some good ideas but their implementation was nothing special and its overall style were not my cup of tea. V8 is long gone from my collection while Rogue Trip still proudly sits right next to TM1, TM2 and Critical Depth on my shelf.
Very awesome game. Controls were great! You go around blow things up and other players too. Has a "crazy taxi" feel bc you go playing capture the flag with vacationers. They have great seletions of characters to pick from.Played this game for months on end. Its a quick pick me up and play game.
The third vehicular combat game from the same team that developed the first two Twisted Metal games is . . . more of the same (and that’s a wonderful thing). Lots of exploding stuff, big levels with lots of hiding spaces, tight control, cool characters, and the addition of the "taxi" missions to add a new wrinkle to the genre. Those expecting the ultra-violence promised in Twisted Metal Black should look elsewhere. The game is heavy on cartoon-style violence, gutter humor, and rubbery control. Though some of the cars have gruesome bios and horrific weapons, the blood is absent in favor of sick jokes and comedic touches like a weeniemobile whacks other cars with its huge member, a psycho beauty queen who unleashes exploding poodles on enemies, and a not so subtle jab at Sigfried and Roy on the Las Vegas level.
One of the greatest car mayhem games of the nineties or perhaps al time love it!!!!
Love it
