I’m a 47-year-old kid who has always loved aviation and RC models. Cars, planes, everything. I currently have two other small scale rc helicopters that I have enjoyed, but they are NOTHING like the Syma S107. Not even close. The thing is, they cost A LOT more.I see a lot of comments here about how easy this model is to break. The two channel models I have are much more likely to break because you have very little control. With the Syma S107, you have ABSOLUTE control. Have you ever seen a dragonfly in flight – stopping and turning on a dime? That’s what this helicopter reminds me of.Right out of the box it is impressive. The quality of construction is beautiful to look at. If you’ve ever seen one of the huge rc helicopters that the pros fly, this looks like a scaled down version, with a metal frame and boom tubes just like the big ones. Two separate motors operate the main rotors independently. When you initiate a turn, one rotor spins faster than the other to generate torque, which turns the aircraft. It’s the same principle that is used to turn real twin main rotor helicopters like the CH-46 Sea Knight and the CH-47 Chinook. The really cool part is the tail rotor. It’s mounted at 90 degrees to what you’re used to seeing on a helicopter. It blows air up and down, not left and right. The tail rotor is what generates forward and backward movement by raising or lowering the tail, and it is very precise and responsive.A couple of tips if you’re new to this type of.
I’m giving this product a 4.5 stars.I wanted to buy an inexpensive helicopter that was going to be a success. I saw this online and decided to check it out after reading all of the positive reviews. Once I got it in the mail, I verified the contents to be sure if it was a legitimate product and it was. I really hated the twisty ties they used to hold in the helicopter inside the box. It was a pain and I was worried about using too much force to get it out. Well, everything turned out fine. I tried seeing if it was ready to be flown right out of the box but it wasn’t quite there yet. I recharged it for about 30 minutes and bam; it flew like a bird for about 8 minutes. Of course being an amateur at this toy, I had trouble getting to fly properly but eventually I got better as I played with it. I gotta say that this toy can really take a beating. I crashed this helicopter into so many things that the worse I’ve done to it at the time was that I scratched up the wings. I love the engineer at this little helicopter. This toy was designed to be simple and effective and it is very easy to open up the toy and fix it up when needed. I already own this toy for about 3 weeks and already I broke it. Haha The helicopter took a dive into my dog’s water bowl. Oh man, was I worried that it wouldn’t work anymore. I dried it off for about 30 minutes and checked to see if it would still turn on. Yep, it was still working. I was impatient and wanted to play with it again, so I ignored the fact t.
I had a small brookstone helicopter that I had received years ago and that was terrible to fly. This little copter is awesome. Turned it on, brought it up slowly and adjusted the knob so it’d stop slowly spinning one direction and flew it around the office. Lots of fun, short battery life but you can supposedly upgrade it. Still for a couple minutes of fun worth the $20. Spare parts are listed in the manual and very popular on eBay for as low as $1. Their website (Syma) has spare parts for cheap too. Big win since i’ll probably break something eventually.
We got this for our 9 year old son for his birthday. (Actually, the first one didn’t work. We got a dud, but retrolio was great about sending a replacement and a return label for the broken one) At first he was a little intimidated by it, so I took over and flew it around the living room a bit. After seeing that it’s not scary (those blades go from zero to GAH! in a split second) he took over and now he LOVES flying it. It takes a bit of practice to get the hang of it. I was pleasantly surprised at the sturdiness of this thing. It has taken many a tumble, and so far nothing has broken. Would DEFINITELY recommend if you’re looking for something suitable for your kids that can handle drops and crashes! Honestly, I have a blast playing with it too, so it’s not just for kids!
It took a couple of charge cycles to get used to flying this. But once I got used to it this is an incredible little helicopter. It’s amazing that something this small can fly so stable and well.I bought two of these for Christmas – one for me and one as a gift. Out of the box there’s no assembly required other than putting the six (6) AA batteries into the transmitter. The copter was already charged and ready to fly. It survived a few crash landings and wall impacts with no problem. It charges in about 30 minutes with the included USB cord. I charge it through my 13-watt iPad charger but any USB port or charger will work fine. Once charged it will give you a solid 5 minutes of flying time. The copter is very stable and hovers in nearly a stationary position. Mine drifts ever so slightly backwards (very, very little) and the other one hovers perfectly still. You can actually remove the two screws that hold the canopy in place and slide the battery front-to-back to adjust the hovering to be perfectly stable.Loads of fun to fly. It’s small and uses IR (infra-red) transmitter and not RF (radio frequency) so it’s best done indoors without sunlight interfering. With a little practice this can be controlled very precisely and I’ve been able to land it on a book that’s sitting on my coffee table pretty accurately. This is probably the most fun toy available for $22. It’s a pretty remarkable bit of engineering as well to make something so good in such a small and inexpensive package. Se.
The Syma S107 is a very fun remote control helicopter! I always wanted one because they are way cooler than a RC car. It was definitely hard to control at first because the controller’s throttle is not weighted down, so you have to learn how to keep a constant control of the throttle while controlling the directions to maintain flight. It took me a several recharges before I got used to controlling these indoor RC helicopters. By playing with these toys, you’ll learn how air current affects flight. For instance, flying close to a wall, the coaxial propellers’ rotation will actually pull the helicopter into the wall, thus why real helicopters hesitate to fly close to buildings or mountain sides and flying over an open box will cause the airflow to return upwards which will cause the RC helicopter to wobble because of the air current affecting its flight pattern. After buying a few of these because I thought my friends and family should enjoy them as well, I weighed some PROS and CONS:PROS:-Battery life lasts about 10-15 minutes of constant flight before needing to be recharged. Battery is rechargeable!-The charging cord is usb, so it can be plugged into computers or into iPhone chargers to recharge.-When charging, after the helicopter is fully charged, the charging cord that comes with the RC helicopter will light up Red to show you it is ready. That same light turns off when the helicopter is charging. A good indicator!-Teaches about airflow, air current, vents, and.
Well, I was having trouble with my remote at first, the green light would not stay lit. I removed the battery cover, and it sorta worked. I accidentally dropped it on the ground (it probably fell 2 ft) and since then, has been working just fine. After getting the remote controller working properly, I was ready for a test flight. Oh man, I was awful. I hit just about everything in sight. Finally, I decided to take it outside for a bit and fly it around. Mind you, this is an indoor helicopter, so if you live in an area of high winds, I don’t think I’d recommend that. Anyway, during my flight outdoors, I had the chance to play with the controls a bit, as there was much more room to fly. After my battery died, I charged it up again, then flew it in my bedroom, with much more success than my initial flight attempt outside.I don’t know the part names very well, so I’ll try to explain it. The three pieces that are in back that come to a point, two of the three have come out, one on each side. I don’t know how to fix that, maybe a bit of glue. I’m concerned that may weigh it down too much, though. This only happened after a couple of flight attempts, but I’m horrible at it, anyway. What can you expect for $20?I got this for my 6 year old nephew to watch and enjoy. I probably should’ve learned to fly it a bit better before showing him. What he DID see, he got a kick out of. His dad messed with it a bit and had better luck than I did. Was trying to get my nephew to fall in.
I have purchased several of these little helicopters over the years. Syma is my favorite brand, and S107G is my favorite model. I have purchased the Apache, Coast Guard, and Mini Chinook models by Syma, but the S107G is the best performing of them all.I consider it to be very easy to learn and control, but I am quite good with my hands. The average user may not have the same experience as I did. Once you learn how to fly it, you will want to go around or through obstacles and maybe even land it on a ceiling fan blade.Toddlers and pets love it. They will chase it around the house until it crashes on them. At that point, they will stay away.Don’t try to fly it outdoors except at night when there is no breeze. First, the controller is infrared. The sun’s rays will interfere, and you will not be able to control it. Second, it cannot move fast enough to fly against a light breeze.Fly this baby indoors, and you will have lots of fun. Don’t crash it on your wife. The blades really sting.
For Christmas I was given a Gyro Nano Hercules “Unbreakable” helicopter as a fun gadget present. After 30 minutes of use it’s top rotor quit working. I was hooked but was now stuck with a broken helicopter. So after checking the reviews I ordered the Syma S107 G from retrolio. World of difference between the two. The S107 G is much, much easier to fly, tougher (been flying it for a few days now with several crashes and it’s still going strong) and it’s over over $10 cheaper than the Gyro Nano Hercules. I highly recommend the S107 G.After several hours of flight let me add the following recommendations -1.) Buy some replacement rotors and connect buckles (the tiny part that holds the gyro balance bar to the rotor shaft). The blades will get beat up no matter how good you are flying it and the buckles are easily lost during a crash.2.) While it is easier to fly than other small helicopters I wouldn’t recommend getting it for anyone under 8 years old. These require quite a bit of hand/eye coordination to fly successfully.3.) This is strictly an indoor helicopter. It struggles with just HVAC fans. Outside the slightest breathe of wind makes it impossible to control.4.) One trick I learned – it takes 30-40 minutes to charge using computer USB, cellphone charger, or 110v wall charger. But it charges in around 20 minutes using a New Trent battery pack. As an added bonus is the battery pack shuts down after it finishes charging so the battery doesn’t over charge.
So, I bought this my for my 6-year-old after reading the reviews. When it arrived in the mail, I noticed the box had 14+ written on it as suggested age. This concerned me, so I decided to open it and see if it is, in fact, age appropriate for my 6-year-old. Well, I fell in love with R/C flying after the first flight. Being completely new to this, it was a bit challenging, but I got the hang of it (took maybe 2-3 flights). After being made fun of for playing with my son’s Christmas present day after day, I opted to buy myself a Quadcopter!!!This heli is quite small, which makes it very suitable for indoor use. Charge time is about 40 minutes with a 7 minute flight time. This heli seems pretty durable considering…My son loves my quad (he saw me fly it once), so I think he will enjoy this. It will only fly outside in shade or when close to dark. In daylight, it loses signal constantly since it operates on infrared signal, not RC. Obviously, it isn’t made for outdoor flight though. The build quality is impressive considering the cost. I’ve bought a couple replacement kits in anticipation of my son wrecking terribly…we’ll see how it holds up to kid testing. I don’t intend on letting him use it alone, but I think it will do just fine with adult supervision. Daddy gives it TWO THUMBS up! We’ll reserve final ratings until my son puts it through it paces…
