Rail Road Tycoon is an excellent game. The graphics were very good and also the game is very realistic. In the game you build ,trains,Hotels and etc to occumponey you different Stations you also deal with the stock marcket the more stocks you buy of course the more it’s worth. There are many cities to connect with and you have to haul cargo that is in demanded. I give this game a 5 because it has good graphics excellent game play, Holds your intrest for a very long time and and I believe follows history perfectly
First of all, this is a really fun and addictive game. Anybody who likes simulator games would enjoy this.Other reviewers complained about the interface, but at least for me, I thought the interface was pretty good. Perhaps it helps that I have S-Video and a relatively large screen, but I thought the interface was easy to use. Maybe not as fast as a mouse could be, but I can’t lie down on a couch and use my mouse. My definite problem with this game is that the Dreamcast will start running out of memory with the more trains and stations you add. I find myself purposefully limiting how much I build. Otherwise the cursor & interface starts moving slower and slower. Worst of all, half the time, the game eventually freezes before I can beat the level! It isn’t easy to get a gold, so when the game crashes right before you finish a level, it’s intensely irritating. It takes time to save, so saving every couple minutes isn’t really an option.I’d much rather play a console game than a computer game, so I still enjoy Railroad Tycoon for the Dreamcast very much. But, unless you can accept that it crashes, it’s better to spend the same amount of money and get the computer version of Railroad Tycoon…which comes with more levels and (I’d presume) a better manual. Hopefully this game will come out for XBox or PS2 or whatever.
Excellent game and gameplay.
Great
This is on of the best games avalible on the Dreamcast. What it lacks in graphics it more than makes up for in gameplay and replay ability. If it were possible though I would only give this game four and half stars as online play was pulled at the last second.
this game requires focus on the building of a railroad dynasty; it requires careful planning coupled with risk taking; it requires observation of the layout of terrain to verify that its a profitable undertaking to run a railroad and build a station in a particular area. Even when its profitable to do so the player still has to monitor the costs of upkeeping tracks, stations & rails to make sure that profitability is retained. As if that isn’t enough….the economy goes through periods of depression and boom times and the player has to adjust railroad activity to suit these times. The game can become overwhelming especially if you’ve got several trains to keep track of, but the control interface allows for easy adjustments and tracking to be done. Not for the casual gamer only the specialist. Environments look good in aerial 3D. Soundtracks are not spectacular but suit the historic periods in which the game is set. Train sounds are realistic to the historic setting of the periods also. All in all a rather nice game to patiently sit down and play
I bought this game a month ago and stopped playing it since. It has so many options and modes that you can never get bored with it. Plus it contains lots of history and funky music. For anybody who has never played a game like this i recommend doing the tutorial first but other than that this is a great game!!
It was awesome
Railroad Tycoon could be every boys dream. Imagine taking any train you wanted, deciding where it goes and what it carries. That is every boys dream(for us older folks). But what makes this the best console strategy game on the market is the simplicity, yet massive depth of this work of art.To start off the graphic detail incredible. The trains and terrain look great. Don’t expect too much eye candy otherwise because you are in the role of exploring unchartered territory. That results in just trees, mountains and rivers on screen.Next the controls are smooth and easy and you will find no problem selecting items and laying track. Smooth as silk.I don’t want to bore you to death so here it is: The object is to create a railroad empire by connecting cities and earning money via your train system. This cash is earned through supply and demand so you must keep up to date with what your cities want. You can then invest that money in the Stock Market to grow your personel wealth. There are over 40 scenarios overall making this a very replayable game. These scenarios pits you vs. time or a computer opponent(s) to reach different objectives. This keeps the game interesting and fairly quick paced for a strategy game. An easy game to learn but a tough game to master, with a fairly difficult learning curve. If you love strategy games this is a must have. All Aboard!
