Love the game, classic rpg.
Paladin’s Quest may not have been as popular as some of it’s contemporaries on the SNES, but it is still a great game that is a lot of fun.Durning the game, you only have two characters that stay with you, learn new magic, or can buy and use armor and weapons. All other characters are "hired" mercenaries. Eventually, their powers no longer match up with the monsters you face and you need to hire new ones. You can even use a spell to hire old mercs that you have let go!Magic is a little different, too. Instead of having separate MP, your characters use their HP energize their spells. No more Meteo at 1 HP! Also, you learn spells by combining elements. Their are eight elements that you purchase in towns. The game automatically combines the new element with each previous element that you have to come up with new spells. Each element has a strength rating, so if you use fire spells a lot, your fire element will become more powerful. The ultimate spell combines all 8 elements. You need it to beat the game, of course.Anyway, this game can be a lot of fun. The only real bad part is that the graphics aren’t the best, and characters don’t show up in the fight screens (kinda like dragon warrior on NES I think). It definitely has some fresh ideas, and is great if you are looking for something new from something old.
An interesting RPG for the SNES that get’s overlooked and you can find cheap. The graphics are an acquired taste. Personally I don’t mind them but I’m still knocking off some points. The game is short and can be bested in under 10 hours which is good and bad. I like the single HP bar element instead of the traditional MP/HP system, it makes the game stand out. This is never going to be as good as FF3 or anything but get it when you can find it.
This game is kind of an old favorite of mine and I’ve even managed to get some of my friends invested in it, surprisingly enough. Happy to have a physical copy!Arrived with someone else’s save already on it, but it was very early in the game– I’m guessing the shop tested it before shipping it out. I’m keeping that save on there as memorabilia ;P
Awesome game with fast shipping!
