A lot of people have bad mouthed this game, from MW2 to ArmA 2 fans, but it is a good game. Not to say that I don’t have problems with it (which I will get to), but this game is not anywhere near as bad as one would think with the high number of negative reviews. For MW2 fans, this game involves some level of tactics, it is meant to be realistic. You’re not going to be able to run around with a 30lb machine gun and kill all the bad guys. If having some level of tactics doesn’t appeal to you, then don’t play this game. I however love both games, but I love OF2DR more because it allows me to actually utilize my brain more when developing fireteam tactics. This game doesn’t have as steep of a learning curve as the first Operation Flashpoint, or ArmA 2, so if one would like to try tactical shooters this is a good transition. For milsim purists, I want to say that you should stop stoning Codemasters. Yes, they used the Operation Flashpoint name for a game that does not have the same depth as the original, but it is still fun, and utilizes the same realism as the first. It also has superior audio in comparison to the robots of ArmA 2, and is a more consumer friendly title that will utilize its simplicity to gain more milsim enthusiasts. Now for the problems:1. The console version has no mission editor, which makes it hard to justify the extra $10 for it2. They should have used U.S. Army for this so one could have a 2 fireteam squad under the player’s command (Marine squads have thr.
If I was to compare this with other games that I know it would be like Arma on the 360. For those who arent into PC gaming the only other xbox game I could possibly compare it to is rainbow 6.With that said this is like no other FPS on the 360 market (that im aware of at least). This is a slow tactical shooter. Most of the time you are shooting from a great distance and you need to take the time to line up your shot.Your not going around killing people in an arcade style. As I stated before this is a tactical shooter. Even though there arent explosions every second you feel great satisfaction every time you do get a kill. I think i’m on level 5( of 10ish?) and I only maybe killed 60 people. And yea i’m stuck -_-The levels themselves are very large and you spend a lot of time looking at your map, playing with your binoculars and trying to pick off the enemy or try going around them if you can. While this game is difficult compared to the CoD series of games there is LOTS of fun to be had here.Multiplayer is dead so dont expect to play online unless friends have this game, also you can do a co-op campaign with you buddies. Im assuming it would be fun to do the campaign with your friends, however I will never know since my friends suck.I hope more Arma-ish games like this pop up for the 360. They are a great change of pace from CoD. Games like this make you appreciate finding more ammo, getting kills and tackling objectives. IMO if your 17 and under I doubt you will hav.
Right out of the gate this is a five star game, I love the realism, you are a 4 man team and you have to attack every objective with strategy and intelligence, unlike the more popular Call of Duty arcade style games where guns blazing no concern for well being will get you through every mission no problem. This is a real gem I look forward to playing its sequel, moreover I not only recommend this product hats off to its designers for not caving into the new American work standard of mediocrity that rules the gaming industryĆ¢ā¬Ā¦
Work properly. Good game.
This is the closest thing to a military soldier simulation you’ll find.. That brings good and bad. Firefights are at long distance, and one bad hit will kill you, just like real life, making for frustration if you fail to save or reach the checkpoints. It’s entertaining if you like the genre, but lacks the soul of COD4 (then again, MW2 also lacks the soul of COD4). Missions are long, so save often.
This game is amazing if you know how to play it. If you’re the run and gun type andyou don’t like games like G.R.A.W. or Rainbow 6 then you best turn away now andbuy something else. This isn’t just a game, it’s a combat simulator plain and simple. There’s no room for trigger happy gun play here. The campaign is O.K., it’s a bit short and I feel they didn’t take advantage of theactual size of the map. 80% of Skira will still be basically unexplored even after completingthe campaign. I would have been nice to pick out your own kits, but you can’t. One thingyou can do is scavenge weapons, ammo, and equipment from crates and your fallen foes. The physics are top notch, sniping never felt so satisfying when you actually haveto work for it. You have to compensate for bullet drop, the terrain even goes into the bullet physics. A good example is that your bullet will actually travel farther, faster, and a little more accurate when compared to shooting at targets uphill. Also, the pistols have a small range. No more sniping with a wee little gun. That doesn’tmean your rounds won’t disappear after a certain distance though. They’ll either just strayfar from the target or fall to the ground. I’ve been caught in the head by a stray bullet or two. The vehicles are fair. Jeeps are easily defeated along with APCs. Helis don’tstand a chance to a clip or two from an M16 either. In all honesty it all feelstoo weak. Multiplayer is great… Well the co-op missions are. I tried to versus but I seem.
Okay, so this game is probably better than most war games (I’m pointing at you, Call of Duty). I just love the realism of the green tracers flying over your head while your screaming "AHH! MEEDDDIIIICCCC!!!!!!". And I just love the realism of Operation Flashpoint(s)GAMEPLAY: You play as 2ND LT. Mullholland, and SGT. Hunter, and maybe a few more people, I’m not really sure though. The storyline takes place on an island called Skira, which the PLA (Some army from China) is trying to take over for some reason. You play as a Spec Ops (Mullholland’s unit) squad called Saber Two, and SGT. Hunter’s unit, Dagger One.PROS: Air strikes, blood, SAMs, vehicles, tactics, realism, what more could you ask for?CONS: Can be hard at times, but otherwise, good. But I hate that when you get incap, enemies still shoot at you like.. "HELLO?! CAN’T YOU SEE I’M DEAD?!"GRAPHICS: Pretty good for a semi old game, (I have an HDMI cable, so it looks real)AUDIO: Pretty good, I’d give the graphics and audio five stars for sure.LEVELS/MAPS: The game, (believe it or not) is a pretty HUGE world. Half open world in the missions, so you can plan, flank, and strike the way you want. But remember, if you can see them, they can see you. And if you can’t see them.. Then they probably still see you.BONUS CONTENT: Since I’m so nice, and for surviving this review so far, I’ll tell you the codes for the bonus levels!NOTICE: Some do NOT work. Just try them and see if they do, but half of them work, but.
The reason is actually pretty simple. You have to understand that even though this a first person shooter war game, the mechanics are way different than that to which you are use to. This is of course assuming you’re coming from the Call of Duty and even Battlefield FPS games. But I won’t spend this review belaboring the fact that this game is in a category of it’s own. I want to focus on why you may or may not like this game. It’s always hard when you go to retrolio to check reviews of a game, and some are giving it 5 stars when others are giving it 1.Have you ever played Project Gotham Racing, then Forza Motorsport soon after? You’ll find that the Project Gotham Racing games are a tad more arcadish than the Forza Motorsport series. Now don’t get me wrong… They’re both great games, but you may find yourself liking one or the other. The same applies to Operation Flashpoint and Call of Duty. Operation Flashpoint 2 is your Forza Motorsport… They both try to simulate that “real world experience”… When you crash your car, there is damage to it, and when you take a bullet in the leg, you can’t run. Now, personally I like car games where I can crash my car into a wall, and I don’t have to worry about engine failure or tire damage. That’s just my gaming preference towards car games, but when it comes to FPS war games I have a different mindset. I’m starting to grow tired of kids who walk into a room and start throwing grenades at the ground to get a couple of kills be.
fun game. im a fan of any game that offers something interesting, and this game definitely has it. way different than cod(and i like cod) but still a fun experience.
I’ve played several first person shooters but this game for me I would consider a challenge. This isn’t a game where you can be Billy bad*ss or your character will get clobbered everytime. Unless you familiarize your self with the game controls before you start you will have trouble. When you reach each new chapter, new capabilities will become available so you’ll have to ‘Read the Manual’ to know what you and your Marines can use. Any one that likes a challenge will enjoy this one!!
