Child loved Sonic and was very excited to get this game. Later feedback said it was fun too.
Fun and addictive game.
Sonic hasn’t been good in a long time. That said, I avoided the two cart racers with the Sonic and Sega name on them when they were released.Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed was added to the Xbox One backwards compatibility list, and the review scores were very good, with many saying it was equal to or better than Nintendo’s Mario Kart series. Really?! Now I am interested!Because of Gamestop’s price gouging practices, any game added to the backwards compatibility list suddenly doubles or triples in price. This means Gamestop currently charges $30 for a used copy, disc only, in a generic box.retrolio had it new for under $16.00! SOLD!I actually got it for my kids, but my boys, my wife, and I have all been playing it and enjoying it since it arrived yesterday afternoon. Four player and two player games are quite fun and looks awesome on a 60" HDTV. I remember playing four player Goldeneye on a 32" CRT TV back in the day, so kids today are very spoiled. The game is great. It’s frustrating (in a good way), huge levels, lots of modes, old Sega characters and tracks based on their games, and fun unlockables. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes couch games for the whole family and enjoys a good cart racing game… Better than Mario Kart??? Yes… Yes it is!
Most kids are familiar with Sonic. Most kids are also familiar with various racing games. This is a fun, innocent racing game that is perfect for kids. It has great graphics, some familiar characters, very diverse levels, action aplenty, and loads of unlockables. Up to four people can play this on your family game system, and you can also play over the internet via Xbox Live. This game has several game play variants, including a career race mode – in which you compete against other computer AI racers, Battle Arena – in which you try to knock out opponents by hitting them three times with cartoony traps and weapons, VS racing – in which players simply try to outrun their opponents (think Mario Kart), Battle Race – which combines racing with knocking out opponents, and my personal favorite – Capture the Chao – in which players play a sort of capture-and-return-the-flag game. There is a lot of variety in this game – much more than in a typical racing game, and plenty to keep things entertaining for a good long while. Of course, my kids’ favorite races and competitions are the ones in which they can beat their dad! This game can be fun for adults, too, in my opinion, though it is clearly designed for the kids. another aspect of the game that will keep them interested for a long time are the numerous unlockable awards, characters, racetracks, and other items. All of these "mini-goals" make the game both more challenging and more fun. This game gets an "A" from me. The.
I bought Sonic ASRT to have a multiplayer x-box game that didn’t involve shooting people. Even the skeptics among my friends, who thought they’d hate it, have come to enjoy playing it for hours when I come over. The maps are visually interesting and range from moderately challenging to very difficult. Besides straight racing maps, the career mode also throws in a variety of challenges to mix things up. Some of these challenges are actually more fun than the actual races (in my opinion of course). The transitions between cars, boats, and planes keep the game fresh, interesting, and challenging. As for multiplayer abilities, the game lets you play up to 4 players through the entire career mode. Players can join in and drop out at will, and a level is passed as long as one player meets the race/challenge requirements. Also, you can do up to 4 players in circuit race, which pits the players against computers just like in career mode, except that this time each player (human and computer) is given points based on how they place in each of 4 or 5 races. The player with the most points at the end wins. Now for the reason I only gave it 4 stars. As far as I can tell, the game doesn’t have a "Team Circuit Race" option where 4 players could join up with a couple computers and share points while racing a circuit against another team of computers. This means that my multiplayer options are limited to career mode and circuit race. Circuit race isn’t cooperative, and makes it feel lik.
The previous game, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, was nicely done but did seem like a clone of a more famous kart racer. This time around, Sega made a great game that stands on its own, and at a very reasonable price. There are several features that differentiate this game from other kart racers:1. Vehicles change between cars, boats, and planes at certain points in each course. Usually the course is altered in some way (the ground collapsing, barricades going up, etc.) so that your three laps are not identical. In addition to the different driving styles for these vehicles, there is also some strategy in trying to find shortcuts that get you into a faster vehicle (the plane) sooner. There are plenty of shortcuts to find.2. The multiplayer is excellent. Unlike other racing games, even the career mode can be played in co-op. As long as one player meets the requirements for passing the race or challenge, both players get to move on–cooperation without frustration! It’s also nice not to have to beat the career in single player before the multiplayer is worthwhile.3. The career mode has different game types, which reminds me more of realistic racing games. There are drifting challenges, timed laps, battle races, and one delightful game type where you have to chase down and destroy a tank.Overall, this is a great kart racer. Don’t worry about this being too much of a kids’ game, either, because to beat the various races on the highest challenge level takes a lot of skill and patie.
I needed some age-appropriate games for my 10 year-old niece who was visiting during the summer. I used to play sonic the hedgehog on the Sega Genesis console when I was a kid. Racing games are fun.
Talk about nostalgic, I used to play sonic with my little brother when I was a kid. Now I get to play with my son. He LOVES this game.
Is back capatible to XBOX One
Lot’s of fun and a great Family game we can all play together with Great, fun graphics, easy controls and fun characters. We especially enjoy the battle feature which is similar to Mario Cart. The only thing I don’t like at all is it does not appear that you can play multiplayer with just yourselves. The game generated racers are always there, no matter what race or settings you choose. If anyone knows of a way around this where we could race just against ourselves please let me know, thanks.
