I bought the game used and it was in excellent condition. There wasn’t a scratch or skip on it. It came on time but didn’t come in the original case unfortunately. It’s in a black case without the original cover.I bought it for the nostalgia but I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find how good the graphics are for their age. Really fun to go back and play if you were a fan 10 years ago.
This is some serious puck action. I got this game as a gift and did not think I’d like it (I’m not a huge hockey person) but it’s become one of my favorite sports games of all time. The Deke Control is a blast and makes me look like a pro on the ice. Very fast and very fun.
I have a limited vocabulary. Please, bare with me. The best addition to this game is the glass breaking, it’s so cool how it happens at least 15 times every game stopping play so you can watch the ref repair glass and the announcer say the same thing over and over. The new fighting is awesome to, the way both combatants look like they are locked into Milwake braces that don’t allow them to look anywhere than at the ceiling. I’m a dozen games into the season and have only won once. Usually I get about 50-60 shots on goal but none go through, just like real hockey. I like how I’ve scored 6 goals the entire season, meanwhile giving up 53. My roomate is doing a lot better than me though, regarding both the hockey and sticking with the AA meetings.
Hey Guys and Girls Since your reading this review you must be intrested in buying this game. WELL DO IT! This is a great game. For all you Hocky Fans and even if your not if you like sports games this is a great game. The controlls are easily set up for good gameplay. And the Franchise mode is Great fun. you can draft sign free agenst trade and all that. all the teams are pretty accurate. And it has pretty good graphics. The music is cool to. So stop reading reviews and go buy it! i promise its a good buy!
My husband is the big PS2 NHL lover, but this is cool because we can both play for the same team! I love to beat up the opposing team while he skillfully shoots the puck. Lots of fun, great graphics, and cool music too!
i havent got it because you people are stupid and wont send me it
I just bought this today, being the first time I’ve seen it on a shelve since it was released. This is really a good game worth how ever much you pay for it …The graphics are truly amazing, players look so realistic you’d swear you were watching the real thing. With all 30 NHL teams included, you can heat up your hometown team’s rivalries to new heights. One new feature I like is how you can build up to what I call “Matrix Mode” in which you push L2 when your meter gets full and it goes into a Matrix type slow motion and you can see every little detail of your deke, etc. Trust me its really cool. With single and multiplayer action, it will be hard to put this game down for any period of time, you’ll find yourself glued to the screen drooling over the intense gameplay. Its worth every penny!
What’s crazy is that I think this is, by far, the best EA game yet!! I have to laugh at all the negative reviews others have givin this game…are we all talking about the same game?? When you are half way into your third season and still hearing new commentary which by the way is hilarious I think that says something…It is a riot to play…alone or with a friend. I’ve had countless hours of pure enjoyment and I plan to have many more with a real classic!!One more thing…It’s waaaaaaay better then the new 2004 edition!!
If replay value is used as the greatest criteria for judging a game, than the latest installment in EA Sports’ NHL series is a complete classic. My friends and I play it endlessly even when we build a franchise in such a manner that it is virtually impossible to lose, we still play and have a great time at that! One of the best things about this edition is that you have virtually complete control over your franchise (including drafts, waivers etc.)While the differences between the 2003 and 2002 editions are minimal at best (if you already have 2002 I wouldn’t recommend buying 2003) it is a wonderful game that pays for itself in its endless replay value.
Certainly not the big change that happened from 2001 to 2002, but enough new/improved bits to be happy with owning it. The default speed is a little less frenetic this time around, and as a result the CPU won’t get breakaways 75% of the time, merely about 33%, which is still pretty bad, but we’re improving. The puck physics are also improved, with a lot of good deflection angles that make for more fun gameplay. There is a slight tendency to not take possession of the puck when it’s seemingly close enough, but that’s actually not a very bad thing, creating more wide-open situations instead of such a possession-heavy affair.Goalie animations and new saves are probably the highlight of the new game, but that sorta speaks a lot to what needs changed in this series (i.e. more than just a few new fancy goalie moves). There are some annoying gameplay matters that need addressed, like the strange tendency for the CPU to overplay at the end of periods seemingly to prevent shutouts. The continuing AI habit of your defensemen never getting back to cover attackers. The CPU using the cross-ice 1-timer a little bit too much and a little bit too well. And maybe it’s me, but why can i seemingly never catch up to their breaking attackers? They seem to always be that step quicker. And since i’m complaining, try playing with the "on-ice sounds" turned on (which thankfully mutes the none-too-funny color commentary) and tell me if you really hear anything different than in a norm.
