This is easily one of my favourite games right now for my PS2.My only complaint of the game has nothing to do with the actual gameplay – and so I’d just like to criticize the half-time segment along with how a game concludes. At half-time, you simply get the option to view your stats, and then resume the game. And after you finish a game, you only get the option to see your stats. There’s no victory music, no post-commentary, no celebrations – after you win a game, you’re wondering to yourself "uh, is that it???"As far as the game itself goes, it’s pretty darn awesome. The controls are pretty tricky since you have to use a whole new set of buttons for offense and defense. But once they become second-nature to you, the game becomes much more easier, and much more fun. If you have any trouble with the game, there is a helpful audio/visual tutorial at the Startup that’ll teach you such things as how to better control your player on defense, and how to run the option.Anyways, I’ve got a die-hard Gator fan coming over to play; yup, it’s time to re-enact FSU-UF at ‘the Swamp.’ Silly Gators never learn.
but that was expected. only so much you can change from year to year. i was really expecting to have more options and change in the create a player and create a school feature. but there were only limited and minor if any changes. as far as playing a dynasty, it seemed a little bit too easy. i rented the game for 5 days and was able to beat the dynasty in two [only because i must attend class], but other than that, there are only a few minor updates. good game overall. if you own 2003 and feel that you just want 2004 go for it. my boyfriend and i are going to go half and half on the game, and i can already see it being at his house more. O yes i must mention ONLINE play, that has to be the best feature that was not included on 2003. so if anything to look forward to, it would be the online game play.
Great game, perhaps the best NCAA FB Simulator ever made! You can run, pass, defend, kick, punt, and coach your way to the title of College Football!! Play as any of the teams presented at the beginning of the game, from Alabama, to Iowa, to even Wyoming. Not all teams are included, to the best of my knowledge, and you can even play as AA teams as well. And don’t forget about the College Classics, where you can relive 20 of the greatest college FB moments ever, from The Play (Cal v Stanford), to Donovan McNabb’s infamous Hail Mary play. Have fun with this game, and build a dynasty worthy of championship status, and remember, if its in the game, its in the game!!
If you’re looking for a noticeable upgrade to the past versions of NCAA Football, you’re out of luck this year. This game is excellent, but no more excellent than its predecessors.A lot of things were supposed to be ‘fixed’ in this version. A particular weakness of video game football has always been the lack of intelligent pass defense play. This version of NCAA Football, while noticably better in that aspect than older versions, still has a long way to go. It’s still fairly easy to hit a receiver 35 yards down field while he’s double covered. The man coverage still can’t seem to make plays on deep balls and coverage guys still have a little trouble when coming around a receiver to make a play on a floating catch. It seems like the man to man covering AI has actually worsened. This makes the four and five receiver sets almost indefensible without better than average personnel when using man coverage. Sometimes the coverage man will even out run the play, allowing the receiver the easy catch behind him. The zone coverage, something that never worked terribly well in NCAA Football games, is slightly better and is often your only like of defense against deep fades and deep posts. THe AI has definately improved when it comes to making interceptions. You won’t see a big pick bounce off a corner as much as in previous games. The AI defenders have gotten a little more timid as well, apparently. You’ll often see a tackler stop and wait for a runner when they’re a few yards away, eve.
If you are looking for a football game that is worth your money, NCAA Football is just for you. The gameplay is smooth and the controls are tight. You can run plays from the “option” to a “hail mary.” Also, the graphics are great. The players look so real, it seems like you are watching a real game. The game modes are grat too. You can take any 1-A team all the way to the Rose Bowl and then recruit the top players in the country in the offseason, in dynasty mode. Or you can play 20 of the top games from the past 20 years, in college clasics. The only disadvantages: the commentary can get annoying after 10-20 games and the menu music is college bands instead of Blink 182 rock. Also, the dynasty will take up a lot of memory, but it’s worth it.
NCAA 2004 PS2 “Madden Style”…the perfect warm up for Madden 2004. Get your PS2 controller ready, and YOUR joystick in the other as we’re all gonna be in for one fun, messy ride!
I almost didn’t buy this game, because I really didn’t think it could get better than last year’s NCAA Football 2003. Wow, am I glad I didn’t listen to myself! NCAA Football 2004 is the best football game yet!Everything has been improved in NCAA Football 2004. The controls are more fluid than ever. This takes a little time getting used to (hit the speed button too soon and your player will stumble around a bit), but it adds an element of realism to your gameplay. New animations make the game a lot of fun (what’s more satisfying than watching the opposing quarterback slam his fist into the ground after you sack him). Also, there are more teams, more mascots, and more historical games than ever before. But the cream of the NCAA Football crop has always been the Dynasty mode, and NCAA 2004’s is vastly improved. If your team does well enough, you can change your division or renegotiate your contract. Do poorly and you’re out of a job. And while it’s cosmetic, one of my favorite additions is the "Sports Illistrated" mode, where your team just may grace the cover if you perform well enough. If you like football simulations, definitely buy this game. If you don’t like football sims, but this game anyway. You’ll be so engrossed with this great gameplay, you won’t even remember that Madden 2004 comes out next month.
The main question my friends have been asking me is, "Is it worth the money to get the new one?" The answer is an emphatic YES! Better playbook, improved defense AI, online playability, updated rosters that include incoming Freshman, and the Sports Illustrated magazine make this game a great purchase for any college football fan.
I have bought this game every year since Bill Walsh College Football on the Sega Genesis. This year, there is some major changes that makes it (IMHO) the best video game on the market. The AI has really improved this year. No longer will you be able to run all over the defense, have all day to throw the ball, or throw to any receiver. If you are not smart with the ball, you will be stopped or turn it over. The graphics, from the enterance of the team to the player detail, have improved as well. It is similar to last year’s Madden game. The dynasty mode is much the same as last year. You still can customize schedules and recruit, although you will sell the recruit on a specific aspect of your program (prestige, coaching style, location, etc). I haven’t gone deep enough in the dynasty mode to find out more. The best feature to this year’s game is the online play. If you have cable, dsl, or dial-up, you can play anyone through the EA NCAA 2004 site, which joins users from all over and all skill levels. As an added bonus, if you have cable or dsl (through a router), you can use the in-game chat feature, which allows you to talk to your opponent the entire game. Some other features include: classic games, (where you are put in a game situation and see if you can change the history), NCAA 101 (tutorial on playing the game), and uploading draft classes to Madden 2004.I do not think you will disappointed if you purchase this game. It is my most anticipated game every year and the.
If you love college football you will love this title. The game has great graphics and an unprecidented level of fun and realistic gameplay with great features like; greatest game saves, college classic game scenarios for a quick play, or an improved dynasty mode with better recruiting. The defenses are even faster and more athletic than last season. Surpasses NCAA 2003 as the best college football title on the PS2
