They got rid of the 2K server in this game, forcing you to buy 2K14. This means that VC is gone so there are no star players in NBA Blacktop, MyPlayer (not MyCareer) is pointless, and there are basically no online servers. 2K does this every year though in order to make you buy the most recent game. However if the only thing you like is the MyCareer function or playing quick games with friends then this is a great game.

I haven’t played a basketball video game in a couple of years, so I think I missed the transition from the simple combinations of spin, deke and shoot to now having to feel like an expert to execute the right series of moves to get to the basket. Everything else about the game seems really great, though. I’m just missing being able to pick it up and play and not have to study the manual line by line to see all the differences in the moves and then knowing which ones to execute. Would have probably loved that level of in-depthness back in middle school or high school, but as a 20-something now would rather a simpler mode. Funny how that happens.

classic game but dont turn off console while saving. it will delete all the progress you amde with your career mode
I purchased this game for my teenage sons. I love the graphics and the attention to detail of the game. Alot of options and great way to learn about other aspects of basketball. I’ve caught my husband playing the game too. Would highly recommend for your sportsfan.
