NBA 2K3 is slow paced and more of a simulation. While not much has changed, it does have an ESPN license, and it has player intros and real coaches. However the stupid thing is there is no edit number. I traded ePat to the Lakers, and they gave him number 0, since Jesus has 8. I wanted him to wear 53, but there is no way to change it. I like how you run plays on this game, the players respond really well. Another new thing they added is that you can pass while dunking, and also alter your shot, so you can pull of switching hands in mid-air and stuff like that. Great game, it is a must have for NBA fans.
THis game is perfect. The speed and the graphics. It has the most depth and the most real basketball game in the world. Live sux!! It was too fast and is unrealistic. The only reason they r selling better than 2K3 is cuz EA is just good at advertising.Get 2K3!
Ok i know some people have been bad mouthing this game so i decided to write my own review. First off i want to say that i own both NBA Live 2003 and NBA 2k3. I recommend NBA 2k3 for numerous reasons. The first reason is because NBA Live 2003 is ungodly easy. All you have to do is press the L2 button and it throws it all the way down court. Another reason is because in Live 2003 there isnt solid commentary and the pace of the game is way too fast for an NBA Game. NBA 2k3 i think is the best basketball game out there for the playstation 2. First off the controls are simple to learn. Second off you wont see Shaq making three’s like you can in Live. Another reason i like NBA 2K3 is because the franchise mode is more in depth then Live. The only major flaw to 2K3 is the passing game which isnt too bad when you turn on touch responsive pass mode. The player models look very similar to the actual players. The game flows smoothly and i find it more challenging then Live. In 2K3 there are more dunks then live and fancier passes too. I feel that if you are a basketball fan and you want to get your money’s worth then buy NBA 2K3 you wont be disappointed.
This game improves last year’s NBA2k2 by far. It blows away all the other NBA games out this year, The post game is realistic and the franchise mode is awesome.
This is the best basketball game I’ve played. Before I bought it I tried both NBA Live 2003 and 2k3. 2k3 was more realistic. Some people might complain that Yao MIng isn’t in the game. But if he was and hadn’t signed with the Rockets in real life, others probably would have complained too. Overally, I say 2k3 is a better game than Live 2003. So, if you’re looking for a most realistic experience in video gaming buy 2k3.
They gotta make some improvements in the 2K4 series.for example: the game is too slow, the actual players are way faster. They also need to create more moves. The bench players should react more often when you make a fantastic play. they gotta be real on the "challenge mode".They make you miss too many easy shots when you’re playin’ on the SEGASPORTS CHALLENGE.
I must start off by saying that i usually don’t purchase games without renting them first. It was just that all the reviews I read across the board stated that NBA2K3 was the best simulation basketball game out there and I’m all about simulation. At first, I enjoyed the game as i learned how to play. After about 5 games I had it down pat and I could dominate on the hardest level, I’m talking 40 point beat downs in every game with 7 min quarters. People if you find that fun…then your are simply put, a shame to all of us gamers who like our sports as real as possible. The main reason this game was a bomb in my mind was because of the game play that had been said to be its STRONG point. I thought NBA Live was easy to win on….NBA2K3 TAKES THE CAKE FOR SURE. You can steal soooo easy in this game and then just run down court on a fast break and dunk it. This is due to the fact that passing is so bad that you can just stand in the passing lane and push the square button at the right time and you can steal the ball. Sega sports in general does not make a good sports game period. I wasted [money] on a peice of [crud] man. The sad thing is i got about 20 games of b-ball out of this and its not longer any fun.
My six year old and I play this game quite often. There is a slight learning curve (my son was shooting when he meant to be passing) but it isn’t too rough. I’ve seen more complicated games. This game is pretty fun. The biggest thing I like about this game (what sold me on the game) was my ability to play on the Internet. So after I picked this up I told my brother in the next state to pick up a copy as well and we’ve met online a couple of times to play a quick game. The gameplay across the Internet is pretty good…. though sometimes things will get a bit choppy which is surprising because my brother and I both have high speed Internet connections. I wish they would do this with more games.I like the other playing modes as well… there is even a 2-on-2 street basketball game you can play. I really like this, it is a lot of fun and a great way to put in a quick game with my son.All of the main characters are there and look very realistic. It amazes me how I look more at the players than their numbers to pass to the right guy.Speaking of passing, this can be a bit frustrating at times. It will sometimes not go to the person you want it to go to and the passes look very unrealistic at times. It makes intercepting the ball when playing the computer (and sometimes humans) a little bit easy.Overall, great game. If they make NBA 2K4, I’ll be looking forward to it!
this game is far better than 2k2 because they have made some minor, but critical changes to the game. in 2k2 the A.I. system was virtually impossible to beat an i hated that. also in 2k2 the free throws were impossible as well.i just think that there are far move improvements in this game than before. like when i play 2k3 i actually get close scores to the computer than in 2k2 i used to loose by a whole lot.overall i would highly recommend this game because is a lot better that it’s predecessor, AND THAT’S THE BOTTOM LINE!!
I was really surprised by all the changes they made from NBA 2k2. Get this game if you like basketball or just a good sports challenge especially since online play opens up an infinite opponent pool. It isnt perfect, there are still some problems with shooting percentages and collision detection but certainly not in any capacity to hurt this games appeal. The only things I wish they had included were voice communication, more detailed online information about your opponents connection speed/ping and some more camera angles (3/4 quarter, sideline, freeroaming). Other than that a great game and definately worth a BUY.
