This game is a vast improvement over 2K9. The graphics are very good and the frame rate issues from last year are non existent. The Stadiums are gorgeous and they looked like they added more detail this time around. The pitching can be challenging but is done very well. The pitching A.I. is a lot better, and it forces you to take more pitches to be successful. The batting physics are awesome, anyone who has played baseball can attest to the realism in this game. You can also see the difference in team talent, for example I played one game using the Yankees and beat the Phillies 7 to 3, and then I played using my favorite team the Padres and I struggled to beat the D backs 2-1. Another cool feature is “hurry up baseball”, this mode enables you to turn off all of the replays and cut scenes that make a normal game seem like 3 hours, now it’s possible to get in a quick game in 30 minutes! This is great especially if the wife is waiting to watch her favorite TV show.There are some quirks though, all of your outfielders seem to have canon arms, and they can get throws to home with extreme accuracy. The fielders constantly make Derek Jeter type 360 jump throws which are pretty far fetched for some defensively challenged fielders. I know I’m nitpicking here but I wish they could add a little more detail in the backdrops, for example for PETCO PARK in MLB the show you can see planes coming in to land at Lindbergh Field in San Diego. Is it a big deal? No, not really but hopefully next.
First off let me say that i’m a long time fan of The Show for the PS3. Last year I purchased the PC version since it was only $19.99 on retrolio. This year I went with the 360 version and boy what a difference a year makes.You maybe asking how good? Much better than 2K9 but still not as good as The Show. This franchise is finally moving in the right direction with Virtual Concepts developing the game.MLB 2K10 is not as bug filled as last years game but at times it looks sloppy especially when it comes to transitional animations on the field. More importantly the AI in 2k10 plays much smarter, is more aggressive on the base paths and will try and pick you off on first after calling for a pitch out it you happen to have your baserunner leaning towards second.One AI flaw that was in last years game has been fixed. The AI will take strikes in the strike zone but will also swing at pitches if they are looking for a specific pitch you just happened to serve up.Graphically the game looks real nice. The colors are bright and cheery but less realistic than the graphics on The Show. Jaggies are also present but they don’t look too bad.Where the game excels and nails it is in the Presentation dept. The audio by Gary Thorne, Steve Phillips and John Kruk. While the audio will eventually get repetitive it makes up for it with MLB Today. Just like in NBA 2K10 you are kept up to date on the happenings in your MLB Season as it progresses. It’s simply awesome to watch it unfold just as it is doe.

I was first exposed to the MLB 2K series from a demo at my local Best Buy. I loved playing it almost immediately. But, the version they had was 2K12 which was VERY buggy. Fielders constantly making mistakes, frame rate drops and more. I did a little research and saw that 2K10 was almost the same thing, but with fewer bugs. So, I bought this. It is great! I absolutely love it. There are still a few issues. At least once a game a fielder will forget to stop at a base, or the pitcher will do a pitch out and the runner will not move, or a HR is called a foul, etc, but overall it is a great game. Highly recommended for baseball fans and those that just like playing games.BTW, I highly recommend putting it on fast play mode. It greatly cuts down on cut scenes of players slowly walking to the plate and stuff like that.
I figured I should go back in time to purchase this game after buying 2K11 and 12 not too long ago.. For this game being made in 2010 it’s really good.. I’m a fan of baseball and baseball video games so I was not disappointed with this purchase at all.. I recommend this game plus 11 and 12.. Don’t waste your money on 2013 it’s basically 2K12 with a updated roster!!
