If I had to summarize Adidas MiCoach for the Kinect in one word, it’d be “ambitious”. While other fitness titles aspire to simulate the gym instructor down the road, MiCoach aspires to simulate a professional-caliber strength and conditioning coach. And it pulls it off. There are three ways to play MiCoach which I’d categorize into “hardcore”, “casual fitness” and “fun”.The “hardcore” part of the game is called “Training Plans”. When you start out, you choose the sport you want to be trained in. You can choose basketball, tennis, soccer, football, running. There’s also a “getting started” option that gets you acclimated to the system, as well as general fitness for men and women.Once you choose a training program you’ll be paired up with a professional in that sport, each of whom is a superstar in his or her respective sport. They are:Tennis: Ana Ivanovic, Andrea Petkovic, and Fernando VerdascoFootball: CJ Spiller, Eric Berry, Von MillerSoccer: Jozy Altidore, Gareth Bale, Jose Mourinho, KakaBasketball: Josh Smith, Dwight Howard, Jrue HolidayTrack: Tyson Gay, Jessica EnnisComputerized versions of the athletes will be your instructors throughout the training program. As in most dance and fitness games, you’ll be mirroring their moves as they do them on-screen. In some cases they look uncannily realistic, and in other cases they look, well, like computerized version. All of their voices are real. Each training plan focuses on a different strength or conditioning goal, such as buil.
Nice.
This was a gift to grandsons…they love it.
I purchased this game to help with my off-season soccer workouts (when its too cold to get out) and to have fun with my two sons. There is a lot of variety in the types of workouts available from basic fitness, running, basketball, soccer or tennis. There are also three games for basketball, soccer and tennis. So far I have set up and used two of the workouts for soccer for speed and strength. Note – for both of these you need dumbbells and a stability ball for some of the exercises. I have also played all three games with my boys and we had lots of fun but not sure how useful they are at improving your game.I have seen some negative reviews about the menu navigation and while its a little sensitive it has worked well for me and I have had no problems. My biggest negative is that a number of the exercises that are floor based really have problems with tracking and I end up doing 2x or 3x the number required just to get them to register. It would be good if the screen could give you better indication of your motion compared to the required motion to help you adjust.Another minor negative is that you can only have one plan active – I’d like to have two overlapping plans one for strength and one for speed and spread them out over the week.Overall this is a good workout routine with lots of variations to keep you engaged for some time.
This has quickly become my favorite fitness game hands down. There are only 2 reasons I wouldn’t call it perfect.1. The wretched user interface. It’s just a shame that selecting anything on the console takes so long using the fidgety up and down arrows and you have to have your hand back at the neutral position before you can select it. This is greatly mitigated by selecting your workout online where it’s nice and easy so the only thing you have to change is your trainer and you can swipe straight through to today’s workout.2 There are required pieces of equipment not included. I had to purchase a stability ball and some weights and at some point a resistance band. A bundle including those items at 60 could have worked well as a holiday gift, which is incidentally a far better time to release a game like this THQ.The Pros:Tons of workouts. With every routine I’m doing more and more exercises I haven’t done before. There is so much content that it doesn’t feel repetitive unlike many other fitness titles I’ve tried. Lot’s of different coaches. Just packed with content and no DLC to speak of. They really did exceptionally in that regard the only improvement I could think of would be more gyms or locales.Quick loading times. Initial loading is a bit average but once you are in the game working out load times are snappy and never make me think that I’m losing my heart rate or just getting bored like most other fitness offerings.Great Tracking. I have sufficient room that I often m.
Great workout game
While the menu system could use some improvements, this game has the most well rounded training plans. I use this in conjunction with the running peripherals everything syncs up.
