I bought this game for my sister. I was happy because it came in early and my sister loves it! (Except she keeps dying at this one part…)
This was a great game. It’s the first in the Metro series – see my review of Metro Last Light – and I highly recommend it especially if you’re into post-apocalyptic semi-open world first person shooters. This game won’t disappoint. Although the graphics, AI and sound are improved with the second game, the story line and fun factor make this game worth playing. Pick up both on sale and enjoy the series.
One of my favorites. Finally got the good ending!
this game made me get an xbox 360 elite just to play it and this is coming from a sony fanboy. great story graphics gameplay nuff said.
I really enjoyed Metro, and picked it up on pre-order from here after some promising previews from gaming sites. I found it to be very dark and moody, and it filled my appetite for post-apocalyptic settings. I had heard going in about some bugs, in particular with enemy AI not taking damage during certain animation sequences they might be performing. If it happened during my game-play I didn’t notice. Some things to note, the game does have an element of stealth involved. You’ll be hiding in shadows at times, shooting out lights, and trying to figure your way through areas without alerting all the enemies at once. The weapons have a somewhat clunky and realistic feel to them, but it didn’t turn me off from the game, as I felt it fit into the “struggling to survive, so make stuff work” feel of the game. The locales have a very alive vibe to them, while you’ll spend much time alone and creeped out when you’re traversing the subway, at the make-shift ‘towns’ the game really comes alive. One particular bit of advice I took was to play the game with Russian as the native language, and English subtitles. I think it really lent to the atmosphere.I didn’t give this game a full 5 stars, just because I really can’t put it in the same category of awesomeness of CoD:MW2 or Borderlands, but it’s still a very worthwhile purchase and I don’t think you’d be disappointed by trying it out.
This game was so much fun. There were so many moments were my pulse quickened and I was sucked in by the suspense. It does all this without being cheesy or resorting to pure surprise scares. This game surprised me with the depth of its storytelling and balance of shoot ’em up action and the feel of a gritty survival horror game. The only things I disliked were the rather awkward controls and lack of npc interaction. Still, a super memorable game.
I first bought it after seeing a trailer for the second Metro. Since the second looked interesting, I had to check out the first and see what sort of story and backdrop it had and how it would transition from the first to the second. As a horror FPS, it succeeded in portraying an interesting story and backdrop with a eerie feel and play-through. Dead Space still takes the cake for the most terrifying game I’ve played with Alan Wake as second, but this one still did the job. I would have liked to have seen more exploration and a wider array of gameplay, but it still managed to keep me on the edge of my seat wanting more. I’m looking forward to the next installment.
This game has an excellent idea behind it and for the most part executes it well (improved on in the sequel too). Play with subtitles for authenticity you can’t hide from, like the many radioactive ghouls you’ll encounter in this 1st person shooter/survival horror title. I waited until it became cheap and it was worth the wait. One of the best sic-fi shooters of this generation albeit with a few none to serious flaws.
Awesome game for those into the apocalypse. Wher bullets are hard to coke by and guns jam. Way better than most shooters. And it was packaged well and shipped with hast.
If you like Doom 3 and Call of Duty here is a perfect mixture with new elements of its own that still haven’t gotten old in my mind. Outstanding action game with survival worked in.
