Metal Slug X is basically a re-release of Metal Slug 2 that originally appeared on the Neo Geo console system. The Metal Slug games play very similar to Konami’s classic Contra series. The gameplay is somewhat linear, but undeniably fun. You run around gunning down lots of enemies on a 2D, multi-platform playing field while picking up power ups and saving captured soldiers, ect. The graphics are all hand-drawn and are skillfully animated (each enemy has it’s own humorous death sequence)with plenty of color and minimal slow-down during loads of on-screen activity. The music and sound effects are a bit muffled though, but one can’t expect stellar sound quality from a port of an old cartridge game anyway. Replay-wise, Metal Slug X provides a few interesting mini-games after you’ve beaten it, but as with all games of this type, playing the 2-player arcade mode with a friend is the only reason you will want to beat it over and over. If you are a fan of the old classics like Contra and Guerrilla War (for the original NES), you will love Metal Slug X. I would advise those who are less acquainted with the earlier days of gaming to rent it first.
any game that has arin from game grumps on the cover is a 5/5 game
i first had this game as a japanese import but i lost my modchip psone and now that i bought the us version i can play it haha :D thanks disc was in very mint condition like new
This is one of the best arcade shooters of all time! The only thing diffrent in this game vs Metal Slug Anthology is the training option with Sgt. Meg
Metal Slug is one of the most popular Arcade Games made by Snk (formerly for the now deceased Neo Geo home console). The games were ridiculously priced at $300 but now with the power of the internet and emulation, you can play these games for free.Metal Slug X is an enhanced version of Metal Slug 2. In Metal Slug, you play as war hero fighing nazi soldier’s and freeing pows, and blowing up tanks with machine guns and high bazookas!!In this version, the game has been enhanced to include deadly Aliens from outer space!!! (Obviously borrowed from Aliens and Duke Nukem).Tthere are 5 different sequels to Metal Slug and this a great one to that collection
I bought this game because i had played it in arcades. Ive beaten it 3 times in two weeks. Even though its not hard, it has enough multiplayer action to keep you coming back for more. THe extra missions you unlock when you beat the normal game are VERY hard though, so be prepared. This game will entertain you a lot.
Metal Slug X for the PlayStation is a revised version of the arcade game Metal Slug 2. I played Metal Slug 2 occasionally at local pizzeria as a kid, but I am not familiar enough with the game to notice any difference. All the gameplay seems to be intact along with the addition of extra challenge modes that add to the replay factor. If you enjoy 2D run and gun games like Contra and Gunstar Heroes, this game is a must buy. It’s a real blast to play. The controls are rock solid which is important since there are enemies and projectiles coming at you nonstop. The graphics are exceptionally well drawn in a cartoon style that never takes itself too seriously. The game remains light hearted at all times. You can be transformed into a mummy and walk around really slowly until you find a potion or more likely get killed. Also, if you collect too many food items, you become fat and your bullets become fat also. There is so much humor in this game meanwhile you’re fighting tanks and helicopters and stabbing, shooting, and burning enemies to a crisp. My one gripe about this game is that it’s just like the arcade meaning there is no such thing as getting a Game over or having to restart a level. You just press start as if you were putting another quarter in the machine. There just aren’t any stakes. At least in the arcade your money was at stake. You can plow through the game in no time without possessing any real skill. All that’s left is saving the hostages. When you die, yo.
After playing the import copy of this game I would just like to let the world know what a fantastic 2d action shooter this game is. If your a fan of great colorful 2d animation, buy Metal Slug, buy it NOW! Not only can you ride in tank and a plane but you get to also ride a camel! A CAMEL!! How messed up is that? Anyways if your a fan of great control, and games that are actually fun, this is for you.Awesome!
The game is great. Very fast and furious, non-stop action with great animation and humor. But what bugs me is that it’s just too short. Altough you get bonus missions when you finish the game… it’s not enough. I finished the game plenty of times BUT I WANT MORE !!! But for a normal player it will probably enough. Awesome game, buy it.
“Huh? What’s wrong with this game? How come the characters are all so smooth — where’s the edges, the corners, the aliasing? Hey, where are the polygons? How do I control the camera? What, you mean I don’t control the camera? I don’t need to? Weird.”We can understand a certain degree of confusion on the part of the modern gamer, when exposed to Metal Slug X. It’s a near-perfect evolution (graphically speaking, anyway) of a genre already extinct, side-scrolling shooters having fallen by the wayside years ago when some videogame Illuminatus declared that The Future Will Be Owned By Polygons. Heavy sigh. Well, Agetec seems unwilling to let the genre slip away quite yet. The PlayStation version of SNK’s superior sequel is now available in the US, and it behooves all fans of classic action gameplay to pick up a copy as soon as possible. It’s short, it’s simple, and it’s not quite the equal of the Neo Geo original, but it’s still as sweet a shooter as dollars can buy nowadays. Even if you don’t want to make it part of your collection, it’s one of the best rental values around. That’s because, despite its brilliance, Metal Slug X is a little bit on the shortish side. The five or six levels can be blazed through in a long evening. Every second is packed with action, though, and if you actually want to build your skills and beat the game on one credit, instead of abusing the continues like a weak wimpy girly-mon, you could be playing through the game dozens of times. And that is the.
